They're not the greatest at absorbing in the beginning at all, they do get better though after washing them multiple times. The black color collects a lot of lint as a warning. Even with these issues, I have save a lot of money not using paper towels and saved a lot of paper and plastic as well. I keep a basket that i put the dirty ones in and wash what is in there twice a week along with other towels. This system works well.
So far I’m really loving them. Soft and absorbent. I got the gray set so we wouldn’t confuse them with anything else in the laundry. Not colorful, but rather elegant-looking.
I have tried a couple of other reusable alternatives to paper towels (namely dish towels and Swedish dish cloths), and neither of them has worked for us enough to help kick the paper towel habit. These are a super swap because they are thin, absorbent, and sized close to a paper towel. I have a lot of uses for kitchen towels like drying off produce, wiping a damp counter, etc. But they haven't been able to replace paper towels for spills and messes the way these reusable paper towels can.
I bought and have been using the white towels. I keep them close by and use them as napkins as well as for cleaning up spills. It makes me feel better to not see paper being added to my trash can. They wash up nicely. I haven't started using the gray ones yet, so I can't really say how they wash.
These are much more absorbent than paper towel and are easy to just throw in the wash with my other towels.
