Paraben Free
Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.
Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

This is literally just a bar of plain vegetable soap. There’s nothing about it that would give it stain-removing properties. At that point, you might as well just use a bar of soap. I don’t get it. It works a tiny bit, as soap would, but I don’t understand why you would use this for laundry stains.

This is not only my favorite zero waste stain stick, but my favorite stain stick overall. Lasts a long time, easy to use, and gets stains out.

Works well! Same ingredients, I believe, as one of the block dish soaps, so I used for both dishes and stains. Brightened clothes!

I’ve been using this to keep my kitchen cloths from looking to grimy and it works like a charm. I have used it on everything from grease stains to raspberries and tomato sauce stains– it has done the job!

I use this on my cloth pantyliners that I wear daily, and it works great. I put them in a small tub of water as I’m loading the washing machine, and one by one I ring them out and rub the stain stick over the stained area. It works great, not only for stains, but as a deodorizer, too (a few of my pads are so thick that washing alone doesn’t get the odor out). It really doesn’t take any more time than a traditional stain spray (you have to rub those in, too). I love this product.

It works about as well as any natural stain remover I’ve used but not as well as conventional. I would love to see this in a cardboard tube as mine broke into pieces very early.

I’ve only had to use it once. I dropped my yellow mask in a mud puddle and it got the stain out! Suds up nice. Nice scent too (which is key for a mask haha). But content with my switch from a spray in a plastic bottle to this bar.

I used it on a few stains on my shoes and on some clothes came out after the first wash!

This product works great on minor stain. If it is heavy stain, or stain that has set in that hasn’t been treated immediately then this will not help with it at all.

I usually use this item to (TMI) clean up Menstrual blood stains. It does its work. I truly love it and I still have it since May.

The stain remover gets the job done. It was able to remove some kitchen stains out of my white uniform like ketchup and oil and was even able to lighten some of the old dirt stains on the edges of my pants. It won’t be able to remove ALL stains, but otherwise it is good sustainable stain remover.

I haven’t found this product to be considerably effective towards removing stains. I recently used the stain stick to remove stains on a white comforter and pillow sheets, but when they came out of the wash, the stains were not completely removed and there was a light circle left around the stain almost as if the stain stick lifted the color of my sheets. I personally have not had luck a with this stain remover product.

So mine came 100% package free which is cool, but I’m wondering if I was accidentally sent the other brand that Earth Hero carries, but this is what I officially bought so I’m just gonna assume it is correct. So without being too graphic, my period is not friendly and I ruin a lot of clothes. I was wearing a pair of rayon shorts (I always have the worst time with rayon getting messed up in the washer or staining) and…you know…and I came home, rubbed this bad boy all over, threw them in the wash and wa la! My shorts are like new. I highly recommend

Question
Jess –
Will this work for hand washing clothes?

EarthHero (verified owner) –
Hi, Jess! While this stain stick isn’t detergent, applying to the stain before handwashing the items is still effective at getting the stains out 🙂

This was much smaller than I expected it would be. I haven’t used it yet so this is not about the effectiveness, just wanted any other purchaser to be aware this is a very small bar of soap. If it works, it is probably still worth the price. Will update after using on a stain!

I’ve only used this once but was impressed! It did a great job with a grease stain and it’s so much more pleasant to use than harsher stain removal products.

I was a little worried it wouldn’t work well and I’m trying to do small swaps that I can get my SO on board with. I am very happy to say that this one was a success

Gets out just about every normal stain you could think of. Got blood nose stains out of a handkerchief. I recommend this to save packaging waste.

It’s not a miracle in a stick, but it does seem to help. I got a few little tomato sauce spots on a white t-shirt and it helped to get rid of most of them (but didn’t quite get the prominent one that of course was front and center).
Update: I was able to use this little bar to get some fairly set-in tree sap stains out of my roommates running shorts and I was very impressed. I guess it depends on the stain and the material, but I’ve been more successful than not getting stains out with this so would recommend!

Unfortunately, I tried this using this on multiple stains and it only removed the barest, faintest stains and not any else. I was disappointed.

I’ve always been a huge tide to go girl and shout user for my stains. I wanted to try something more natural but was kinda skeptical! My boyfriend got a bloody nose over his pillowcase and I was avoiding cleaning it for weeks. Yesterday I tried the Meliora stain stick on it (not expecting much- it was a set in stain at that point) and ALL OF THE BLOOD CAME OUT!! All of it! I am so impressed, I will be buying these forever. Thank you thank you!!
