About the Company

well kept

Did you know that over 2 BILLION plastic disposable razors are thrown away each year in the United States? And nearly 100% of those will never be recycled – instead sitting in our landfills (or worse, oceans!) for at least 200 years. That’s a whole lotta trash for a single shave! Unlike the other guys, brand well kept is here to change how we shave, shower, and spa-day – making it better for our bodies, and the planet.

Founded by two badass ladies who noticed that women’s razors were expensive, ineffective, and made of plastic, brand well kept strives to make shaving and bathing more mindful and enjoyable. From their quintessential straight razor, to amazing add-ons like natural shave soap, nourishing post-shave oils, and rejuvenating bath salts (plus all plastic-free packaging!) this brand is going the extra mile to change the way we spa-day!

The blades are good quality and have yet to disappoint, I can usually use one blade several times as long as I remove it from my razor right after and prevent it from rusting. The blade bank is exactly as expected, no complaints.

A better shave at a better price point

I love these razors. I get a super close, clean shave every time. It’s amazing that a pack 4-5 of disposable women’s razors can cost around $12-$14 while a 20 pack of safety razor blades only costs $11. I’m so glad I invested in a safety razor.

Amazing quality, thin yet durable. I love that the company offers the razor bank. As a mom that was one of my main concerns when converting to a sustainable razor. But now I have zero concerns and I am so happy with my change!

    eco-friendly alternative

    HB (verified owner)

I was glad to see that these blades were packaged in a very eco-friendly way. The Astra blades are a good brand, but instead of being individually wrapped they are simply placed in a small paperboard type of packet and stitched shut with some light string. Compact and no frills – just the way it should be.

      Admin EarthHero

Hi Rose! A great question. This safety razor has a very sharp blade which makes for an ultra-close shave while lowering the potential for skin irritation and/or ingrown hairs. It can definitely be intimidating getting into the safety razor life, but fear not! With a few minor adjustments to your shaving routine, you’ll quickly get the hang of it and go on to enjoy the smoothest of shaves.

      Some tips!
      1. Let the steam from the shower soften your skin, then lather up with a shave soap or oil. It doesn’t hurt to exfoliate, either!
      2. Go slowly. Think of this time as a ritual or moment of self-care. 3. Don’t apply extra pressure. The weight of the brass handle will do enough!
      3. Angle the razor at 30 degrees and shave “with the grain”, especially if you have sensitive or delicate skin.
      4. Finally, change out your blade regularly to keep it sharp. A dull blade is more likely to cause unpredictable cuts than a fresh one. Let us know if you have other questions! 🙂
