Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.
Organic Content
Organic materials and ingredients are grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, promoting a healthier use of land and decreasing harmful agricultural runoff. By steering clear of toxic chemicals, farm workers experience less exposure to hazardous conditions, promoting social responsibility as well as environmental stewardship. I find EarthHero to generally be well curated, but this product is a huge miss. The floss frays and tears, leaving gross little shreds between my teeth. Very disappointed in this product and do not recommend. I am very sad as I really was looking forward to a sustainable floss alternative.

Floss breaks in between my teeth. Ive had to use plastic floss to get it out, very frustrating! I used dental lace brand prior which worked better for me, however that kind is not carried on here. I dont recommend this brand

I purchased an older version of this and I loved it. But now the refills don’t fit in that container since they updated!

Im really happy with this floss– it is quite fine and slips easily between my tightly-packed teeth, i don’t notice any fraying. And it isnt mint, which my daughter won’t use, so that’s great!

I recommend the other one over the vegan compostable ones. These because some of my teeth are very close snap and I can’t get between them

This floss, which I wanted to love,
breaks and gets stuck in between my teeth. Sad that I bought two spools. Container is neat I guess, but I can’t use it.

I am a little surprised at all the negative comments! I was just ordering my second container of this as my first one is running low and noticed the low rating. I think the fact that this floss is not waxed takes a little getting used to. Waxed floss tends to slip in and out easily (and also makes it slippery on your fingers), so I can see how there are some posts about difficulty in tight gaps. I’m an avid flosser and I think altering flossing technique can help alleviate some of these issues. I’ve never once had the floss fray or break on me.

This floss is absolutely horrendous. It frays so easily and breaks apart constantly.
Even worse, the frayed bits sometimes get stuck between my teeth, and feels like there’s hair in in my mouth. It’s gross, and defeats the purpose of flossing.
It also tightens around my fingers when I’m trying to pull it out. Sometimes (when it’s not shredding itself) the floss will get stuck, and tightens around my fingers until it hurts.
Every day that I floss, I think about how I need to write a bad review to appease my frustrations.
PLEASE do not buy this!!!

Gee, the reviews seem to pretty much say the same thing. I think all of us want a floss that is biodegradable and this one works fine between most of my teeth, but on the more troublesome areas where I really need it, it breaks and gets stuck between my teeth so that I need some NON-biodegradable floss to clean out the biodegradable floss …

Hi James! We are so sorry that this compostable and vegan floss is not working out well for you. We do carry silk flosses which are also compostable that many have found hold up better if the Georganics 2.0 does not work for them!

This floss sucks. Kudos for being compostable, but I don’t know how this passed to production. It breaks EVERY time I use it and gets stuck in my teeth. My previous compostable floss I bought off Amazon did not to this. I was stoked to take one more thing off my Amazon list and support EarthHero, but this did not pass the test.

This “floss” is a new, compostable formula (points for effort) that makes it so weak that it snaps in half and leaves pieces between you teeth. Not only that, they made it extremely minty! I HATE mint. The *previous version* of this product was perfect (very sturdy and not mint flavored). This new formula should not even be sold on the Earth Hero site – unless they recategorize it as “expensive compost material” instead of the misleading label of “floss,” since it cannot actually be used as floss. I’m so sad this product changed. It used to be excellent.

Hi Molly, we are so sorry that you’re not loving this 2.0 floss version. Our team recommends a non-mint silk floss like this Radius floss for a sturdier experience!

I love everything I have bought from georganics. I will say this floss has a tendency to shred. I do have fillings and that seems to be where they catch. Other brands do the same thing, but this floss does shred more readily. With that in mind, they are the only floss I have found that contains absolutely no plastic, I will still buy this floss. I know it is difficult to transition from plastics norm and durability. This floss still works comparable to most silk flosses I have found.

My teeth are tight together so flossing is a must. Unfortunately this floss breaks between my teeth. I sent my husband out to get some sturdier floss until I can order something different. On the other hand my children and husband have gapped teeth so this floss works great for them.

My comments are the same as many before: packaging is nice, but this vegan floss does not work. Both my husband and I have orthodontist-certified straight teeth (!) but we both find this floss shreds when we use it. Even worse than just breaking, it leaves pieces of floss between my teeth forcing me to use something else to get the floss out from between my teeth. I’ll be switching to a non-vegan alternative I guess.
Update: I tried to persevere with this and at least use up what I purchased, but it is so incredibly frustrating to need to use another type of floss to remove pieces of this floss that get stuck between my teeth. I’ve tried various methods of flossing to try to avoid breakage, but nothing works. I can not recommend this produce at all.

This is an awesome idea and I wanted to love it, but it kept breaking when between molars. I then tried doubling up the floss by twisting them together, but it still would break and was also bulkier between my teeth.
Unfortunately I’ll probably have to pass the rest of it on to see if someone in my family enjoys it because I have to use different floss to get the remains of the broken floss out of my teeth, so I’m wasting more in the long run.

This corn based version is better than the previous silk version. It is more sturdy and doesn’t tear as easily.

I have a permanent retainer behind my teeth and this floss gets absolutely shredded before I even try to do the actual flossing part. It’s works okay on my upper teeth… Lol. I would try a different brand if your teeth are tight together or have permanent retainers like I do.

This is practically anti-floss since every time I’ve tried it I’ve had to use other floss to remove bits of it that shredded and stuck. You can tell it’s made of corn: the only thing that sticks in my teeth worse is corn on the cob.

I can’t add much more than the previous reviewers mentioned. We love the zero waste packaging, but the floss is worthless for both my wife and me. Neither of us can floss without it shredding and having the remaining strands stuck between our teeth. This floss is simply worthless, and that’s very disappointing.

The packaging is plastic free, the reusable dispenser is compact and convenient and works well. The thickness of the floss is good but it breaks easily and I end up needing several pieces to floss all if my teeth.

I really like the concept of this product. For someone with tight teeth gaps, even my dentist complains about them, this is not the product for me. It frays and snaps too easily when trying to get it to go between my teeth. Besides that, smells great, the dispenser is simple and works with no extra hassle. Worth it to me if you don’t have the same issue I do.

I really wanted to like this floss and even purchased refills at the same time. I loved the previous silk version, but this version shared between basically all of my teeth instead of just a couple. I do like the new container design and wish I could use this floss. Unfortunately, it shreds so much between my tight teeth that it is unusable for me. Perhaps if your teeth are not closely packed it would be a good option for you.
