Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.

I used this lunchbox for about a year for my lunch and it worked, but the upper clasps that lock the box together loosened considerably and now it doesn’t really lock together in the same way anymore. Also, it really leaks any amount of liquid, which has definitely caused a few spills in my backpack. Definitely not the design for me or the food i was trying to transport. Definitely high quality materials though.

Hi Brinda! Thank you so much for this thoughtful review. If toting around food that is on the liquid side (salads with dressing, takeout, saucy pasta, etc.), we highly recommend this Wet Box version from Eco Lunchbox. It definitely saves the car seat or a bag from any sudden slips and spills. We love it! 🙂

It’s a little small, but it was built with durable stainless steel. I think that it will last me a long time since the quality is premium.

I got this for taking leftovers home and/or when I am going out and want to bring something to snack or eat a good meal. I got this along with the Tiffin containers for a little more versatility or if I want to pack something extra for my bf when we are out.

Hello,
Are these containers microwaveable?

Hi, Amelia! These containers are not microwaveable because they are made of metal. We like this as a microwaveable alternative!

Hi, I have had similar containers that leak (sauce, dressing, condiments, etc.). How leak-proof is this lunchbox? Thank you

EarthHero –
Hi there! These lids are not leak-proof. A great leak-proof addition is this small container, perfect for sauces and dressings! For a leak-proof bento-style alternative, we love this box that has a silicone gasket to keep sauces and condiments intact!

I can’t say I’ve used it yet, but everything came intact and I’m so excited to be able to use it. As someone on their way to college this coming fall, I want to start early with my eco-consciousness in any way I can and this will do the job!

I love carrying these in my bag everywhere I go. If we have leftovers from a restaurant these are perfect for them! No more plastic take out boxes! Can’t put liquids in there (probably the only downfall), but we have another canister for that. Would recommend

Hi Natalie! These lunchboxes are built to last! Stainless steel is an incredibly durable material and is highly resistant to corrosion and staining. If properly taken care of, you could have this container for a lifetime. 🙂

Love this steel lunch box! It is well made, sturdy, and I love the multiple compartments rather than lugging around a bunch of containers. The small one is perfect (even for adults) for tucking away in your backpack and not not taking up to much space. Keep in mind not to put any liquidy food and it will serve you on your waste free journey well.

Question
Michele Brown –
Hi. I just returned 2 lunchboxes like this to Amazon due to faulty clasps on the sides that would come out of the holes after a few uses. I see that your return policy is only good if the item is unused. But, I am worried about spending over $60 and then using them 5x and then having the same thing happen. If they were to break like this, are they still un returnable after 30 days or if used?

Hey Michele,
These items have a one year warranty that covers manufacturer defects – so if you purchase them and for some reason they do not work as expected, please reach out to support@earthhero.com and we’ll take care of it!

I used to be the crazy lady with a million containers in her bag whenever she’d go out to eat, but now I just carry this one and a leak-proof canister! I am always impressed at how much food fits in here. I love that this one can go directly in the fridge. Many of my containers are insulated, which can be a great feature most of the time, but its a little inconvenient if you just want to stick your leftovers in the fridge. This is one of my favorite zero-waste items!

This is a very sturdy box set. It is the perfect size for me to take snacks/breakfast items to work every day. I only have one criticism–the smallest box does come open occasionally.

Question
Mike –
Where are these manufactured?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Admin EarthHero –
Hey Mike, great question!
These stainless steel lunchboxes are responsibly made in India from high quality, food-grade stainless steel. Steel is a highly valued and highly recycled commodity unlike plastic–did you know the rate of steel recycling is increasing every year, with the current rate up from about 66% to 90%?
Additionally, ECOlunchbox values labor standards and has researched each of the factories where their products are produced to ensure that practices are fair, safe and equitable for the people involved in making their products. Children do not work in the factories where their products are produced.
Hope that helps!
