Sustainable Lifestyle
This product helps promote a more sustainable lifestyle. Whether it encourages re-use and the movement away from disposable products, or it promotes sustainable actions like recycling and composting, this product can help you lower your environmental footprint.
Plant Based Resin
Plant Based Resins are used as an alternative to fully-synthetic plastics. Instead of using Petroleum as the main base ingredient to form plastic, some companies have started replacing a portion of the ingredients with plant and vegetable extracts. This lowers the amount of resources extracted to create purely synthetic products, and often provides a use for agricultural byproducts such as corn or flax. Some plant based resins are made from 100% plant materials, and can be composted in industrial facilities. EarthHero recommends checking with your local compost facility to determine which items are safe to compost.
Recycled Plastic
Recycled plastic utilizes salvaged post-industrial plastic scraps and post-consumer products such as water bottles and other plastic containers, and transforms them into new products. The containers are sorted, crushed, and then heated to form resins, which are liquid plastics that can harden into new shapes. These resins can be molded and used to create anything from carpet to outdoor furniture. Recycling plastic lowers the amount of petroleum extracted and the production of greenhouse gasses associated with first-time plastic production. Plus, by using these existing materials, we’re benefiting from the original energy and resources spent to create them in the first place, while diverting waste from the landfill.
Dispose of trash in a more sustainable way with the 13 Gallon Kitchen Trash Bags from GreenPolly! Made from 90% certified post-consumer recycled plastic and 10% bioplastic from renewable sugarcane, these 3-ply bags are durable and have a secure drawstring closure. The 13 gallon size is compatible with most tall kitchen bins, and is an opaque blue color.

Pros: eco-friendly material, opaque to hide mess. Not being sure how they’d hold up and having experienced some nasty leaks before from regular bags, I tested this out first with nothing but paper trash as I sorted through a tremendous amount of mail. Unfortunately, when I finished up I noticed a big rip on the side, despite not having anything too heavy or with a sharp edge inside. I had not even placed the bag in the trash can for this task. I’m hoping that was just a dud, but I’m not confident these will be useful for a family’s typical trash needs.

Plastic is quite thin, and lip is slightly too small for our trashcan. It stretches well to a point… then the draw string pulls out of the seam with any weight/force. Good cost effective option but I will try something different next. Or maybe I will change my trashcan.

I love that these bags are made from recycled material. They are a little on the thin side in that you can see light through them. Not a total drawback, just careful not to put a lot of heavy stuff in them or things with sharp edges that might tear through the bag. Still willing to buy these over the name brand stuff.

I love these trash bags, and don’t really understand the bad reviews. I will say that we don’t accumulate a ton of trash in one week which is when we change the bag, and it is mostly non heavy items like food wrappers, plastic, etc. that cannot be recycled. It’s the perfect bag for low wasters that still need a trash bag. It fits perfectly in our kitchen trash bin and it’s at least better than using virgin plastic.

Works well for us, almost as strong as the force flex we used to use. Any bag breaks if you stuff it too full. Will be buying these from now on.

I really wish I could keep supporting this brand, but the bags just don’t work for us. They don’t fit over the mouth of our trash can (the sort that is curved in front with a lid). Even more problematic is how easily they tear. My fingers punch through every time I pull it out of the can, regardless of how heavy it is, plus anything remotely with an edge. Maybe if they made larger ones I’d try again.

Hopefully you aren’t throwing out anything “pokey” but these are the best sustainable option when it comes to trash bags, good size.

These bags are more substantial than other compostable/sustainable bags out there, but they still tear too easily. With litter to dispose of, I will not be repurchasing.

I wanted to love these trash bags, I adore the idea but they just didn’t work for my family. This would probably be great for people who have very light weight garbage but it just felt like no matter how mindful we were it would tear so badly we would need to double bag it. If the company were to offer a more durable type, I’d try it again in a heart beat!

These bags stand up well to everyday garbage and the drawstring is really nice to have. The great thing is that they don’t use any virgin plastic. The plastic in these would have been on the earth anyway, so they aren’t adding to the plastic problem.

Really love that this is a more sustainable option than virgin plastic – and an option that doesn’t break the bank either.

I’m still trying to figure out the least wasteful trash routine that is also manageable long term for my husband and myself. These are a step in the right direction, but hopefully I can do without them at some point.

These are durable and love that this alternative has less plastic than normal trash bags.
