Sensitive teeth rejoice! Davids has cracked the code with their natural Fluoride-Free Sensitive Natural Toothpaste + Whitening Peppermint. While traditional sensitive toothpaste uses potassium nitrate to create a temporary numbing effect, Davids skips the anesthetic and adds in hydroxyapatite to repair enamel safely. This is paired with 98% USA origin ingredients that are natural, fluoride free, sulfate free, and SLS free, this toothpaste works to whiten teeth, fight plaque, and leave you with fresh breath after every use. It comes in a recyclable metal tube, and is available with an optional reusable metal tube key to ensure you can get all the toothpaste out with ease.
Cruelty Free
Cruelty Free is a certification process through PETA that labels products that are not tested on animals. All companies that are included on PETA's cruelty-free list have signed a statement verifying that they don't use ingredients or create finished products that help conduct or pay for any tests on animals.

Leaping Bunny
Cruelty Free International certifies that cosmetic and household products are not tested on animals. These companies are audited to ensure that the ingredients and finished products are not causing harm to animals.

Made in the USA
This product was made in the United States. Buying locally made items helps to reduce harmful emissions that result from transportation during and after the production process. Purchasing products made in the United States also ensures that the items are produced in ways that meet strict safety and labor standards.

Paraben Free
Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors. If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.

Recyclable
This product contains recyclable materials. It may be recyclable with curbside recycling collections, but might need to be sent to a special recycling facility. Contact your local waste-hauler or recycling facility for details. Appropriate facilities may not exist in your area.

Recycled Content
Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc).

Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

Disposal Too Inconvenient for Me to Bother With a Repurchase

Tried this toothpaste because I like the aluminum packaging. Toothpaste itself seems to work as you'd expect a toothpaste should. I'm at the end of the tube and will probably just go with tooth tabs moving forward because of this toothpaste's price, inconvenience, and user-generated waste.

The aluminum packaging doesn't allow you to squeeze out the last bit in the same way a plastic tube would. I'd be okay with that, except for added annoyance of one of those now-emptied corners and crevices tearing. So, even with the turnkey, now I'm supposed to deal with paste coming out of the intended hole along the tear. The tube is not that much easier to recycle; you're supposed to cut it open (with the added risk of cutting yourself, because aluminum), then scrub and rinse it out, then finally chuck the thing into the recycle bin where I hope it gets recycled.

The price tag and inconvenience, combined with the fact that as of writing, EarthHero has no option to decline the turnkey, makes this a one-time purchase for me, as I have no interest in building a turnkey collection or investing even more resources into this toothpaste when other alternatives are readily available.

New favorite toothpaste

Finally a toothpaste for sensitive teeth without a bunch of crap in it! There was a learning curve for me and a metal toothpaste container. The turnkey helps, but I don't need a new one with every order - wondering if there could be an option without one? I have a collection of them now. Works great for my sensitive teeth and last dentist appointment they said my teeth looked great and when I asked my dentist about hydroxyapatite they agreed it works for aiding sensitive teeth.

Great Toothpaste, Messy Tube

I like the toothpaste itself - nice, mild flavor, not too foamy, and all was well at my dental appointment after using this for a few months despite the lack of fluoride. Unfortunately, one of the creases in the tube cracked open and oozed toothpaste all over the counter. The tube was mostly full and the crack was near the opening, so it was a waste of a lot of toothpaste. So I'd be hesitant to buy again, though the toothpaste itself was great.

I'm on Team Hydroxyapatite

So glad to find a fluoride-free version that has hydroxyapatite for cavity prevention! I love the turnkey too.

Great!

This toothpaste works just as well as any other brand, wish David's would offer something with fluoride as well!
