Refillable Shampoo

As someone who has tried many shampoo bars unsuccessfully, I started to realize that I was not meant for them. I then made the swap to Plaine Products refillable shampoo, and it was such a nice change. While my hair is still frizzy afterwards, this shampoo gave me a nice lather, delicious Cherry Almond smell, and smooth-feeling scalp (as someone who has dealt with an itchy and flakey scalp from other zero waste counterparts, I am very happy with how it doesn't feel as itchy as it used to). I would definitely recommend for those who want to ditch the plastic bottles but still want to keep using liquid shampoo.

Refillable Shampoo 16oz, 2.5oz

Pros: Shampoo works great, and smells wonderful. The smell is not overpowering either.
Cons: Leaves hair a little dry feeling (even with conditioner). I tried to use it for a couple months to make sure my hair got used to it, and while it settled down a little it is still just a little too drying for me. I will continue to use it periodically for a deep clean, but not for everyday use.

I love Plaine Product's! They're my go to for hair products. Their options always smell great and you can easily use these bottles as is or fill into another container, which is great for travel. I also love that you can send the aluminum bottles back to them.

I love this product because of how low waste it is. Plus, I didn’t even buy the pump to make it even less wasteful as I just pour it into my hand.

Just did my first trip with this and it worked great, including zero trouble through airport security in multiple countries. The shampoo itself came out extremely easily, so be careful not to overdo it! I love that the cap stays on tight so no leaks (major issue with plastic refillable travel containers). And I look forward to refilling from my larger container at home!

Really nice shampoo, surprisingly does a better job than my previous anti-dandruff shampoo. Smells great (I went for the citrus lavender), and the container is amazing.

The refillable bottle is terrific! Simply unscrew the pump from the empty bottle and attach the pump to the new one. Old bottle can be returned or recycled in your bin with aluminum cans. No mess, no waste. The shampoo cleans hair well and gets all sudsy.

Honestly, I won't buy this again. I wish they'd sell the pump separately and make it metal! I'm tired of all these plastic pumps because when they inevitably break, it's hard to find another pump to match the bottle size when you need it. Also, this shampoo doesn't discourage dry scalp. It doesn't help it stay moisturized. I don't know. Maybe the soap isn't for ethnic hair but I won't but it again!

This little body is great. The shampoo it holds inside is pure Aloe :)

I bought my first bottle of Plaine shampoo in 2018 and haven’t used a different shampoo since! I have fine textured hair but there’s a lot of it. I tend to be more greasy than dry and this shampoo has kept my hair perfectly balanced - it gets it clean without being too drying. Love this so much!

It is ideal as I travel a lot and they are easy to pack. The shampoo is great and smells good. They are easy to refill and wash and they seal well.

I had been using shampoo and conditioner bars for about three years, they worked well but always took quite a bit of time to lather up. Plaine Product's shampoo and conditioner have reduced the minutes I would spend lathering my bar to a point that I could actually wash my hair with it. The shampoo has a nice think lather that is something I have missed while using most shampoo bars, and the Rosemary, Mint, Vanilla scent is unique and relaxing. They are a bit pricey, but to be honest they are about on par with (if not a bit cheaper than) high end, special salon brand shampoo and conditioner that I would purchase years ago before I began trying to use more natural and sustainable products. Knowing that this brand has a refill system and a take back program, and the fact that aluminum is one of the best/easiest materials to recycle if need be make me feel this is a good alternative for those who don't want to use shampoo bars. This is my new go to shampoo.

Good for detangling, I like the rosemary mint vanilla scent, love how sustainable it is!

I couldn't give this a long-term trial because my scalp was having issues. This also didn't do much in terms of volume or moisturizing. Wasn't that impressed, and wish I got the trial size instead of committing so that's my fault.

Cleans hair, smells great and creates less clutter in the shower than those shampoo bars.

I decided to give this shampoo a try since I have shampoo bars and I don't like how I'm losing product every time I shower and the water hits them and they are always wet. I like how this shampoo lathers on my 2nd shampoo since I do double shampoo to really make sure my hair isn't dirty

I bought this because my scalp had begun to get itchy for no particular reason. I wasn't sure if it was regular shampoo or something else. Ever since I started using it, my scalp is no longer itchy and I feel like my hair quality has improved. I was looking for a plastic-free or near plastic-free shampoo, plus something more gentle for the earth, and I think I found a good option. Not cheap but it does last a while!

I have a subscription plan with Plaine Products but needed one, so I thought I'd buy the extra through EarthHero. Love this shampoo. It works well for both my husband and me (I have scalp psoriasis and this shampoo is gentle and soothing without irritating my scalp). We like both scents. Lasts a long time too. Very easy to send back. Definitely recommend!

Not sure how I feel about this shampoo. I have really short hair so the trial sized bottle lasted for washes. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how effective it was at washing. My hair texture is in the 4A to 4B range, and it always felt a bit weird after using the shampoo. Felt somewhat refreshed, (because of the shampoo scent), but also a little dry.

Love both scents and wish there were more! This may be on the more expensive end of package-free haircare but I really like the idea behind this company and service

I'm a return customer of the product and love the shampoo and this company. My first bottles of shampoo and conditioner were the Citrus Lavender scent, and I came back for more and tried the Rosemary, Mint, Vanilla...not a fan. Citrus Lavender is a light citrus scent with a lavender overtone that fades away pretty quickly (good for me because I'm a bit sensitive to stronger scents), but the Rosemary, Mint, Vanilla smells strongly of mint with overly sweet vanilla on top. It reminds me of menthol with an artificial vanilla mixed in. Just wanted to share this for other sensitive noses who are trying to decide between the two scents.

I really like the idea behind this brand and shampoo. It is different from conventional shampoo in that it doesn't suds up and spread as much. As a result at first, I felt like I was using a lot more product than I should've needed but I've learned to spread the product more evenly on my hands and then my hair. Works well, especially once you figure out how much you actually need.

I'm over the moon that I found this shampoo that: a) works for my hair b) has ACTUAL circular-economy packaging c) is palm oil free. I have fine but not thinned, extremely straight hair and my scalp tends to become oily after 2-3 days without washing. There really aren't any downsides to this shampoo's technicality for me - it creates lather and bubbles, goes through my hair nicely, and rinses out very well. I have experienced only the citrus lavender scent thus far...it did take some time getting used to such a scent, because it's nothing like any other shampoo I've smelled (and I was trying all sorts of crazy smells from Love, Beauty, and Planet before).
I'm almost to the end of my first bottle; one bottle lasted me about 3 months. My hair reaches down to my hips right now, so I think that's pretty good.
Now that I know I'm committing to this shampoo, I'll be getting a few more bottles so that I can send them all back in one box once a year to be refilled, to save on hassle and shipping trips. And I'll be trying out the conditioner this time, too.
