This product contains material that can break down into soil in either a backyard or industrial composting system. These products are declared compostable by the manufacturer, but may not third-party certified. Contact your local waste-hauler or composting facility to determine where these materials may be accepted. Certain materials may be better fit for industrial facilities than backyard composting systems. Industrial facilities may not exist in your area.

Hi there- great question! Yes- you can use these, and other compostable bags, for trash, but…it’s complicated! These bags, when put into a landfill, will not break down the same way they would in a commercial facility due to the makeup of the bag and the science behind how they break down with heat in a facility like this. Compared to plastic trash bags, they are a better alternative, but they won’t function the same way they would in a commercial facility! I hope this helps! If you have more questions or want to talk more about this, please reach back out at or on chat 🙂

I am in love with my compost bin and these bags. I don’t have to worry about a bad smell for at least a couple days. I am a vegan and eat tons of fruits and veggies. These bags haven’t ripped on my yet and I can just toss them into my compost when their full. Love them!
