Low impact dyes and inks can include vegetable, soy, or water-based alternatives and generally do not contain toxins such as heavy metals, plasticizers, flurocarbons, and fomaldehyde. They typically also use less water than conventional dyes and inks.

Paraben Free
Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors. If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.

Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.

Recycled Content
Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc).

Recycled PET Fabric
Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc). Recycled PET utilizes salvaged post-industrial PET scraps and post-consumer products such as water bottles and other plastic containers. These plastics are dried, crushed, and spun into yarn in order to create recycled PET fabric, or polyester. By providing a use for recycled plastics, companies encourage recycling programs worldwide, while adding new value to discarded items. Currently, over half of virgin PET production goes towards making textiles, so by utilizing recycled PET, post-consumer materials are both diverting waste while taking the place of raw materials. This helps to reduce the demand for the extraction of oil, as well as energy used to produce new synthetic fibers.

Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc). Recycled plastic utilizes salvaged post-industrial plastic scraps and post-consumer products such as water bottles and other plastic containers, and transforms them into new products. The containers are sorted, crushed, and then heated to form resins, which are liquid plastics that can harden into new shapes. These resins can be molded and used to create anything from carpet to outdoor furniture. Recycling plastic lowers the amount of petroleum extracted and the production of greenhouse gasses associated with first-time plastic production. Plus, by using these existing materials, we're benefiting from the original energy and resources spent to create them in the first place, while diverting waste from the landfill.

Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

Great For Takeout/Picnics/Leftovers!

I often get asked about my tiffins because not only do I use them for picnics & leftovers, I also take them to restaurants to pack my leftovers so that I don’t bring home huge styrofoam containers that are toxic & never fit in my fridge.

Quickly Corrodes

I bought one of these and it proved to be just what I was looking for so I bought several more to stage my lunches. I then bought many for my employees that bring their lunch to the office after they commented on mine.
Very pleased with the finish and the gauge of steel used. So much nicer than any of the competitors product.
The only problem I encountered is the rolled edges begin to split and the "stainless" steel starts to corrode extensively. Most of the time the corrosion starts on the interior and spreads like wildfire.
Other products are a lot cheaper and a little thinner gauge steel and the wire used to fasten the assembly are a lot weaker but the finish lasts a lot longer than the To-Go Ware. I hope they solve the problem some day and I can return to the product.

practical and well Made

very happy with this. it’s small, firm, easy to clean, and has a cool, practical design. the only downside is that it’s not leakproof for liquid food.

Daily use

I probably use this 3-4 days of the week for taking lunches to work. Absolutely love it. I'm already the zero waste, odd ball, vegan of my shop so naturally everyone was curious about this beautiful piece of equipment. Very well made. Highly recommend!

A little disappointed

I just received the one and the top lid is impossible to get off. It’s super stuck. And the outside looks dirty not sure if I received a used one or something. Will try and get a replacement and update my rating if I can get a new one.

Hi Lola, we are so sorry to hear this tiffin is difficult to open. Someone from our team will be in touch shortly to help you out!

Works exactly as I hoped.

Works exactly as I hoped. I'll use it to put dinner leftovers in and bring it for lunch the next day. And no plastic--Yay!

Husband Loved It

My husband had been wanting a tiffin for a while, so when I found Earthhero and saw that they had them, I immediately purchased one for him. I read in the description and under the product specifications that the top tiffin was good for liquids, which is what sold me on this particular one. Unfortunately, it was not true. Even with only a little liquid in it, the top tiffin leaks. This is my only complaint. It holds other items well and is very convenient otherwise. I will have to purchase a different container for items such as stews, soups, and creams.

Taller and wider ones ??

I like it for what it is. But I was wanting one that is taller and wider. Just don't know if they make them that way.

Hi Daniel! We have a few different tiffins (linked here) that might be what you're looking for. So happy to hear you are loving this one :D

Mine lives in the car

Mine lives in the car so that I never forget it when I go to restaurants or pick up food. Air tight, sleek and compact, and overall great at what it does!

Convenient Leftover Option

This tiffin is the perfect restaurant companion for taking home leftovers. I've really enjoyed using it! The down side is that one of the buckles of the small brace broke a few weeks after receiving it. Fortunately, the large brace is in tact, so the tiffin is still usable.

Out with togos

I love taking this to restaurants with me! The fact that it's sleek, cute, and compact seems to make people more positively interested in it rather than giving weird looks.

Great tiffin

This has proven perfect for packing snacks for hikes, kayaking or the beach, as well as storing leftovers from restaurants. I went on a long strenuous hike with a friend who was unprepared. Thankfully my tiffin carried enough food to keep us going throughout the 7hr hike! It was also a life saver during a full day of kayaking on the lake when sandwiches just wouldnt cut it. Plus no waste! And you can even store excess trash in the top container when you're done.

Tiffin Container

I love how versatile this container it. I even like that I don't need all 3 sometimes. I can bring 2 or even 1. I like how slim it is and packs really well in my bag. Holds a good amount of food/snacks.

Excellent eco food saver for lunch, leftovers, or portable snacks

Stainless steel cleans up very easily. I would not want to drop and dent it. Accommodates my hot and cold food, upright when hot. People ask me about it and where I got it.

The perfect size to fit

The perfect size to fit in my mini backpack, have already used it as a To-go container.

aliana

this is great is it leak proof i was planning on putting tomato soup and grilled chese it it

Customer

Hi Aliana, this tiffin is not leakproof. We'd recommend one of these options for the soup, as these boxes are made specifically for soups and liquidy items.

C
Christina H.

Will this work for a camping propane grill?

Customer

Hi Chris! We don't recommend using this tiffin on a stove or grill, as the base isn't enforced as strongly as a stainless steel pot or pan would be. But it would be great for storing leftovers or specific ingredients!

K
Kayse

We bought this container recently and just got it today. We can't seem to open the top container. Any tips or tricks to get it to open? We can unlatch the latches but can't separate the lid from the first tier.

Customer

Hi, Kayse! I'm so sorry to hear that your tiffin isn't opening! A few things that have helped team EH in the past when we run into this issue are running it under hot water, cold water, and lightly tapping the lid! Send us an email at [email protected] or live chat from 8-5 MST M-F and we'll make this right for you!

How long would this keep hot foods (rice, beans, etc) hot? Worried there is no insulation to keep school lunch warm enough.

Customer

Hi Katherine! This tiffin isn't insulated so it won't keep food very hot. For rice and beans or even soup (does anyone like cold soup?), try this insulated canister by Klean Kanteen. It keeps food or liquids hot for up to 8 hours! :D
