Who They Are

Many of us experience similar skin struggles. You’ve tried absolutely everything to cure your acne, to get rid of your blemishes, but nothing seems to work. Lily Morgan, a 7th generation American Farmer, knows the feeling. In high school, Lily suffered from severe acne and lost confidence because of it. She tried everything from dermatologist-grade lotions to drug store brand creams, but nothing seemed to do the trick. It wasn’t until she discovered organic skin care products that her acne began to go away. With this revelation, Lily saw an opportunity to share the benefits of organic skincare far and wide so everyone can experience them! That’s why, in 1986, she created her company: Lily Farm Fresh Skincare.

Lily is a pioneer for organic skincare, with Lily Farm Fresh Skincare being the first organic skin care company in Colorado. What’s special about this company is that most of their ingredients are grown at the same place where the products are actually produced! Lily and her team sow, plant, nurture and harvest all of their ingredients by hand. And when they’re picked, they are taken to their on-site USDA certified organic laboratory to be made into lotions, face washes, toners and more! Not only is their lab USDA certified organic, but their farm and some of their products are too! Lily started with a vision years ago, which was to create natural and organic skin care. Today, that homegrown, handcrafted vision still holds true, from farm to product.

Why We Like Them

Sustainability is at the heart of everything that Lily Farm Fresh Skincare does. From seedling to packaging, they make sure to cause the least amount of harm possible to Mother Nature. All full sized products come in recycled glass bottles, which makes them the perfect container to be reused or recycled when the product is all used up! Lily also promises that the trash produced from both their laboratory and their farm is less than half of one trash bag, per week, on average. Creating unnecessary waste is not something they want to take part in, so Lily Farm Fresh Skincare keeps the planet in mind with their growing and manufacturing choices.

Lily Farm Fresh Skincare wants to produce all natural products with as many organic ingredients as possible. That being said, they also ensure their products contain no synthetic dyes or chemicals. They understand that consumer health should not be compromised for profit and so unnatural ingredients have no place in their product lines.

Continuing to grow ingredients and manufacture products locally is an important goal that Lily Farm Fresh Skincare is not willing to compromise on. That’s why 70% of the essential herbs for their products are grown locally in Colorado. From seedling to full grown plant, Lily grows premium ingredients onsite for the best, handcrafted skincare products.

Lily Farm Fresh Skincare understands the value in having as many organic ingredients in their products as possible. Not only are their ingredients USDA certified organic, but their process is too! Both the farm and laboratory are USDA certified organic, which is not something you see all too often. Lily likes to say that “ingredients are everything” and they keep this mantra as a core value when making every product.

Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.

Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.

Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

Organic materials and ingredients are grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, promoting a healthier use of land and decreasing harmful agricultural runoff. Choosing organic materials eliminates the use of insecticides and other harmful chemicals, promotes efficient resource use, and results in a safer products and a cleaner planet!
