Full Circle Home

Innovative, Functional, Long Lasting

Who They Are

The concept of Full Circle was created by four friends at Thanksgiving dinner. Each brought a different set of skills–problem solving, visionary design, connection, and eco-consciousness. After enjoying a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, they decided to combine their passions and create a company dedicated to redesigning household products. While crafting this idea, they emphasized a general company philosophy: Products shouldn’t be JUST functional or JUST aesthetically pleasing or JUST environmentally responsible...they should be all three! Along with this philosophy, the founders of Full Circle swore to be dedicated to every small detail. They set out with the idea that meticulous product design is key to providing a superior yet sustainable product. Using these tenets, they began Full Circle Home–a company dedicated to providing effective products that are made responsibly.

Why We Like Them

Full Circle Home is a B Corp certified company, meaning that they’ve passed B Lab’s third-party certification to ensure that they meet rigorous sustainability standards. Being B Corp certified encourages companies to focus on the social and environmental implications of their business practices, from materials makeup of products to labor standards for their workers. Full Circle also works with Plastic Bank to ensure their products and packaging are plastic-neutral; meaning for every ounce of plastic they use, they work with Plastic Bank to remove that same amount from our oceans and waterways. Plus, Full Circle uses a majority of non-virgin, recycled plastics, with a strong commitment to removing unnecessary plastics from their products entirely.

Full Circle is also focused on showing that “made in China” and the idea of environmental responsibility aren’t mutually exclusive ideas. One of their sustainability goals is to create longer-lasting products so consumers can get more use out of each product. Many of the Full Circle products use raw, natural materials such as bamboo, cellulose, and loofah in efforts to keep plastic out of landfills and oceans. The Full Circle Founders visit the loofah farms and meet with their bamboo growers. They also source raw materials close to where they create and package each product in order to minimize transportation between steps in the manufacturing process. The factories recycle their waste and are audited to meet the following: fair labor practices, health & safety, compensation & work hours, among other environmentally responsible audits.

To give back to families in need, Full Circle partners with Give Back Box to redistribute used household items. They sponsor the transportation of donations of clothing, shoes, electronics, and more, which are donated to various charities.

This brand works with Plastic Bank to measure, reduce, and offset their plastic usage by funding recycling and ocean cleanup efforts in underdeveloped communities around the world. This means that in addition to helping clean up our oceans, they’re also investing in recycling infrastructure in developing nations. A brand’s partnership with Plastic Bank involves offsetting various amounts of their plastic usage, from partial, to full (plastic neutral) or even offsetting more plastic than they produce (plastic negative).

The B Lab is a third-party, non-profit organization that certifies companies as socially and environmentally responsible. B Corps are businesses that go above and beyond traditional business models and aim to create positive change in the world through their practices. These companies must meet rigorous transparency and accountablity standards, while doing what is best for people and the environment.

Plant Based Resins are used as an alternative to fully-synthetic plastics. Instead of using Petroleum as the main base ingredient to form plastic, some companies have started replacing a portion of the ingredients with plant and vegetable extracts. This lowers the amount of resources extracted to create purely synthetic products, and often provides a use for agricultural byproducts such as corn or flax. Some plant based resins are made from 100% plant materials, and can be composted in industrial facilities. EarthHero recommends checking with your local compost facility to determine which items are safe to compost.

As a member of the grass family, bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth. It requires no irrigation, pesticides or fertilizers to grow, and can be harvested within 3-5 years, as compared to approximately 30+ years for traditional hardwoods. Bamboo is extremely adaptable and produces more oxygen per acre than large tree species, while using a fraction of the water to grow. Its durable and lightweight qualities make bamboo a great alternative for hard wood products!

Recycled plastic utilizes salvaged post-industrial plastic scraps and post-consumer products such as water bottles and other plastic containers, and transforms them into new products. The containers are sorted, crushed, and then heated to form resins, which are liquid plastics that can harden into new shapes. These resins can be molded and used to create anything from carpet to outdoor furniture. Recycling plastic lowers the amount of petroleum extracted and the production of greenhouse gasses associated with first-time plastic production. Plus, by using these existing materials, we’re benefiting from the original energy and resources spent to create them in the first place, while diverting waste from the landfill.
