I love this bin; however, after only about 6 weeks of use (just my husband and me), we noticed that the bin is starting to emit odors. Should we hand wash the filter? If not, where can we order new ones?

No smell, looks great, good counter size even in my small kitchen.

I bought this to replace the free plastic option through my county (that used to get SO smelly). This one sits on top of my counter and I've had zero issues with smell. I purchased this specifically for the size and material it is. Plastic gets smelly, bamboo tends to break, and ceramic is heavy to lug around with my backyard compost. This option is a great size--for a family of 2 I empty it once per 1-2 weeks in my backyard compost. It's easy to wash between uses and I do not use a compostable bag with it. The only small "con" is that I've seen it start to get brown-ish spots on the inside but it is purely aesthetic and no one really sees the inside except for me:) I've had this for about 3 months and would definitely purchase again!

I bought this one to replace my molded bamboo which broke after I dropped it. I do not recommend this one since mine came with a bunch of pin sized holes in it.

We keep ours under the sink and have never had an issue with smell! The filter tends to get a bit moldy because we don't empty it very often, but still works well. I don't use bags with this bin, as I've found the biodegradable ones don't hold up long enough and the stainless steel is pretty easy to clean.
