Keep vegetable scraps and eggshells out of the landfill with this recycled stainless steel compost bin. The charcoal filter absorbs odors, so you won't even know it's there. You can transfer the scraps to your local compost facility, or contribute to a backyard system with ease! Best of all, the sleek stainless steel design blends into any kitchen decor. When you need to replace the charcoal filters, look for ones with Model Number: 40605.
Recycled Content
Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc).

Replacement of charcoal filter

I love this bin; however, after only about 6 weeks of use (just my husband and me), we noticed that the bin is starting to emit odors. Should we hand wash the filter? If not, where can we order new ones?

No smell, looks great, good

No smell, looks great, good counter size even in my small kitchen.

Love it!

I bought this to replace the free plastic option through my county (that used to get SO smelly). This one sits on top of my counter and I've had zero issues with smell. I purchased this specifically for the size and material it is. Plastic gets smelly, bamboo tends to break, and ceramic is heavy to lug around with my backyard compost. This option is a great size--for a family of 2 I empty it once per 1-2 weeks in my backyard compost. It's easy to wash between uses and I do not use a compostable bag with it. The only small "con" is that I've seen it start to get brown-ish spots on the inside but it is purely aesthetic and no one really sees the inside except for me:) I've had this for about 3 months and would definitely purchase again!

Rose O.

I bought this one to replace my molded bamboo which broke after I dropped it. I do not recommend this one since mine came with a bunch of pin sized holes in it.

Hi Rose, thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. This definitely doesn't sound like the condition the bin should have arrived in at all. Our team will be in touch shortly to assist!

We keep ours under the

We keep ours under the sink and have never had an issue with smell! The filter tends to get a bit moldy because we don't empty it very often, but still works well. I don't use bags with this bin, as I've found the biodegradable ones don't hold up long enough and the stainless steel is pretty easy to clean.
