Plastic Bank Partner

This brand works with Plastic Bank to measure, reduce, and offset their plastic usage by funding recycling and ocean cleanup efforts in underdeveloped communities around the world. This means that in addition to helping clean up our oceans, they’re also investing in recycling infrastructure in developing nations. A brand’s partnership with Plastic Bank involves offsetting various amounts of their plastic usage, from partial, to full (plastic neutral) or even offsetting more plastic than they produce (plastic negative).

B Corp

The B Lab is a third-party, non-profit organization that certifies companies as socially and environmentally responsible. B Corps are businesses that go above and beyond traditional business models and aim to create positive change in the world through their practices. These companies must meet rigorous transparency and accountablity standards, while doing what is best for people and the environment.

Sustainable Lifestyle

This product helps promote a more sustainable lifestyle. Whether it encourages re-use and the movement away from disposable products, or it promotes sustainable actions like recycling and composting, this product can help you lower your environmental footprint.

Recycled Stainless Steel

Recycled stainless steel utilizes steel salvaged from used products and construction materials, as well as scraps left over from the production of other items. It is durable and long lasting, and can be recycled with scrap metal collections at the end of any stainless steel product’s life. Steel can be infinitely recycled and maintains its quality throughout each recycling process. This eliminates the extraction of natural resources required to produce new steel, while providing a new life for materials that could otherwise end up in the landfill.

Recycled Plastic

Recycled plastic utilizes salvaged post-industrial plastic scraps and post-consumer products such as water bottles and other plastic containers, and transforms them into new products. The containers are sorted, crushed, and then heated to form resins, which are liquid plastics that can harden into new shapes. These resins can be molded and used to create anything from carpet to outdoor furniture. Recycling plastic lowers the amount of petroleum extracted and the production of greenhouse gasses associated with first-time plastic production. Plus, by using these existing materials, we’re benefiting from the original energy and resources spent to create them in the first place, while diverting waste from the landfill.

Composting doesn't have to be hard- all it takes is the push of a button with the Fresh Air Full Circle Compost Bin. It's simple, clean, and has minimal odor thanks to its patented design that minimizes airflow and maximizes decomposition. With just the push of a button the bin opens, making it easy to empty. Plus, every order includes 5 compostable bags so you can get your compost on as soon as it arrives!

    Hi guys!
I live in a single apartment. I’ve been composting for quite some time now. I have about 20 big plants (fruits and Vegies), and I’ve been using yogurt containers (in the plant holders) as composting bases. I’ve been using glass coffee containers, for collecting the scraps. could you help me choose the right composting bin, so I can stop using the glass coffee containers? 🙂 Thank you in advance – Cheers!

I will be moving overseas and want to take some of my Red Wriggler composting worms with me to start a new colony there. Can I use this to transport my worms? I can’t tell from the photos but will there be enough air flow through the holes in the lid? (Yes, they will be riding in the cabin with me.)

Hi Janice, we love that you’re hoping to bring some of your composting worms with you! While none of our compost bins have been tested to carry living beings, but with proper accommodations the Fresh Air bin or the Vented Compost Bin might be a good fit for your needs as they have the most air flow out of all of our options.

Hey there! This compost bin can definitely be left outside as long as you’re not concerned about wildlife! If worried about scent, some tips for combatting smells include adding few drops of essential oils, tossing in a lemon slice, or adding a charcoal filter. This bin also features space underneath and small holes on the lid. This brings airflow and helps to mitigate the scent of decomposing food. 🙂

  5. Question

    heatherstefanescu

Could this be used to store food scraps before batch adding them to a bokashi bucket system? I want to minimize the frequency I’d be exposing the bokashi bucket to air so if I could store a couple days’ worth of food scraps in this bucket and then transfer them to the bokashi bucket, that would be great. Thanks!

Hi Heather! This bin sounds like it will work great for your intended use. The 1.5-gallon capacity means it has plenty of space for scrap storage before transferring to your Bokashi bin 😀

I am a repeat buyer of this compost bin. I bought it first for my sister and now I bought one for use with my boyfriend and his family. I again chose this bin because it seemed the easiest to clean and put it in the dishwasher. I built his family an outdoor compost and this product is to encourage them to use it even while I am not there.

    Easy compost container

    Jess (verified owner)

I bought this compost container for my sister and her husband. I bought it because it seemed the easiest to clean to put it in a dishwasher. They were a little confused about why you needed it but since you still need to bring the compost out to a compost drop-off site, pay for compost pick up service or compost in your backyard. I assured them they will want a bin like this since they won’t want to make trips throughout the day. I personally just use Tupperware to save my compost before I take it out to my backyard composter. However, I think my sister and her husband like this compost system because it is more aesthetically pleasing and you don’t have to wash the Tupperware each time.

    Does not leave a smell!!

    taywalters23 (verified owner)

I love this compost container! We have never had issues with it smelling, the only time you ‘smell’ it is when you open the lid (when it has produce in it). It’s super easy to clean because you can throw it in the dishwasher- it comes apart easy as well. my only grief with it is the compost bags that go with it. if you take longer to fill the bin the bags are likely to start to break down, so its important to empty it every few days so it doesn’t leak onto your counters.

I did a lot of research to figure out which compost bin would suit me best. I live in an apartment, so I needed something compact for the space so this bin is perfect. We had a bad fruit fly problem before but this bin has helped alleviate that issue! Also love that it can be easily taken apart and placed in the dishwasher.

I live in a small apartment and have little composting knowledge, but I would like to learn. What would I do with the bags when they are full? Im not sure there is a local spot for me to take them and I do not have an outdoor compost either due to lack of space. Any knowledge/ suggestions you can send my way?

Hi there! It is so wonderful that you’re thinking about joining the compost movement. If your town or city does not offer industrial composting and a home compost is out of the question, we always recommend seeking out a local farm to see if they would like your food waste! This is a rather small compost bin, so it may suit you to introduce an even larger container (a large bucket can work!) that you store outside and use to transport a week’s worth of food waste to a compost destination. Great Looking Bin!

    lauragaring1989 (verified owner)

Well, I do love this bin but, unfortunately I have to return it because I purchased it for my mom not for myself and she wants a bigger one. I guess she thought it looked bigger than it is. lol Either way, I got the black and white one and it looks so sleek and elegant for it to just be a compost bin. I spoke with Grace at EarthHero already about it so I’ll be mailing it back next week. If I had any counter space in my apartment I would be keeping it for sure though. I really liked that this bin included the biodegradable bags to try out too. I think that would help with smells. We’ve had a ceramic compost bin with the charcoal filter in the past and my mom couldn’t stand the smells. She’s really sensitive to onions and I think it was just too much for her. Anyways if I ever move I will probably order this for myself. Thanks!

    Solved my smelly compost problem!!

    camryn417 (verified owner)

I live in a small apartment with a small freezer, so once I started cooking more often I ran out of space to freeze my compost and started to use a bathroom trash can to store my compost. After maybe five days the entire apartment would smell musty, and there would be a bunch of goo at the bottom of the bag when I brought it to my community center. This composting bin kept my kitchen smelling un-stinky for over a week!! And there was hardly any goo!! And the design is GREAT!! It’s so easy to clean!! $30 for a compost bin might seem like a lot but I am confident that I will NEVER have to buy another one again.

I can’t brag about this product enough! I eat a plant based diet and I am all about composting for my garden. I used to have to take out my scarps after every meal and not with the amazing compostable bags I can take it out every couple days. I have yet to get a bad smell coming from it , which is MAJOR! I recommend this product to anyone who eats fruits or veggies!!!

  17. Question

    Jane W

If I started to compost with a large container and kept food stuff in there for the 2-5 weeks, could I just then
dump it into the yard? My husband tried composting years ago, and does not want to do it again. I have mobility issues, and cannot create a space in the yard. But, we do have many holes that our dogs have dug, and I thought about putting the material in those holes. Would that work?

      EarthHero

Hi Jane! Great question. Composting your leftovers and any other organic matter could do wonders for your yard. The key here will be to ensure that the compost pile you start is properly aerated and is creating enough heat to generate adequate decomposition. Leftover food will break down more quickly and turn into a nutrient-rich soil conditioner when it is turned over a few times a month and when other organic matter is added to it (leaves, twigs, grass clippings, etc.). This blog will help with other composting tips and tricks, too!

      Admin EarthHero

Hey Maura! Composting is a wonderful practice. Diverting food waste from landfills has quite an impact when it comes to reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions. If you’re unable to have a backyard compost pile, there are still options for you! Find out if your city or town has a commercial composting facility. Sometimes they offer curbside pick-ups for a small fee or allow you to drop your compost off. If something like this doesn’t exist yet, another option is to contact a local farm. Just be sure to find out exactly what they’re looking for (do they only want organic foods? Do they except meat products, etc.). Hello, I was wanting to start vermicomposting, would this bin be suitable for that?

Something wrong with this post? Thanks for letting us know. If you can point us in the right direction...

    • EarthHero

      Admin EarthHero

Michaela, what a cool idea! Due to its design, this compost bin probably isn’t ideal for vermicomposting. As you may know, worms help speed up the rate of decomposition. The “fresh air” vents in this bin work to promote airflow and slow down decomposition (which helps with the smell, too!). A good idea might be to fill this bin with food waste and then transfer the contents to a larger, more permanent home for those worm friends. 🙂

Are the bags completely free of plastic? I see they are vegetable resin based but that doesn’t mean no plastic. I’m not convinced using the bags are 100% organic since I’m going to put them in a home compost to use for garden soil. Thx!

      Admin EarthHero

Hi Beth! Great question! Not all bioplastics are created equal and some do contain plastic byproducts. While they may eventually biodegrade, tiny bits of plastic may remain that may harm the environment! Luckily, these bags by Full Circle are certified biodegradable and ASTM D6400 certified, which means they will break down in industrial compost facilities and won’t leave any nasties behind. Since these aren’t labeled as okay for backyard composts, we recommend checking out this option by BioBag! Made from non-GMO crops, they’re perfect for tossing into home compost bins. 🙂

Hi Cheryl, great question! This compost bin has a circulatory system that requires vents along the bottom rim, so bags are necessary to keep anything from falling through.
