Girlfriend Collective

Girlfriend Collective was founded on the principle of being the best of the best without sacrificing style, sustainability, or quality. It all started with a simple pair of black leggings. If you shared the post on your social media and paid for the shipping, you'd get them for free. High quality, sustainable leggings for the price of shipping- too good to be true, right? Wrong. This tactic proved worthwhile for founders and husband and wife, Ellie and Quang, whose sustainable empire has now grown to include leggings, sports bras, shorts, jackets, and more, all offered in a variety of inclusive sizes. With Quang's background in sustainability and mechanical engineering and Ellie's creative vision, Girlfriend Collective was born and has truly blossomed. Today, Girlfriend Collective is a hip, diverse, size-inclusive, transparent, and ethical powerhouse in a sustainable fashion.

Good things come to those who don't waste

Girlfriend Collective prides itself on being transparent, taking care of the people who make your clothes, and never putting the bottom line before what's best for the planet. Now there's a mission statement we can get behind! That means that transparency and sustainability aren't an afterthought, rather they are woven into every aspect of Girlfriend's process. Compared to a traditional pair of leggings, GF leggings divert 25 water bottles from a landfill, save 18.61 lbs. of CO2, and save 3.11 gallons of water. It doesn't get much better than that! The bottles for your Girlfriend Collective leggings are processed in a Taiwanese government-certified factory, meaning the factory has high-security measures which subject it to accountability regarding how much plastic is taken in, shipped out, and where it came from. Girlfriend Collective's entire collection feel and fit amazing for all shapes and sizes of bodies because of the time that is put into the design and production of their products. Using ECONYL fiber from recycled fishing materials in some of their other gear cuts down on the fossil-fuel intensive production of traditional nylon. Girlfriend has also tackled the issue of textile dyeing. In traditional textile dyeing processes, toxic wastewater is often discarded with no second thought, harming the ecosystems and communities that surround them. In Girlfriend's facility, every drop is sent to an on-site OKEO-certified wastewater treatment plant where it is cleaned to Taiwanese standards and released, cleanly, back into the environment. Even the mud that is created during this process is repurposed in a sustainable way, sent to a paving facility and used to create paving stones for the community. They have nothing to hide because nothing is overlooked in their production process. When you're using the best practices, why not brag about them?
