Wrappr
After having her first child, Brittany Trafford, Founder of Wrappr, received tons of adorable and useful presents from family and friends. However, there was just one problem. All of those great gifts were decorated in non-recyclable, non-compostable, bound-for-the-landfill wrapping paper.
Disappointed, Brittany wished there was a better, prettier, and more eco-friendly solution.
Not much later, her brother returned from a trip to Japan and introduced Brittany to an ancient art form known as furoshiki fabric wraps. Commonly used since the 8th century, these wraps were a way of adorning gifts in beautifully decorated and totally reusable fabric. A stark contrast to the single-use and plastic-coated paper we've all grown accustomed to using. Excited and intrigued, Brittany knew she had found the perfect sustainable alternative she had been seeking, and so, just a few weeks after the birth of her daughter, Wrappr was born!
Wrappr's 100% organic cotton fabrics and earth-friendly dyes are not only sustainably-minded (and biodegradable!), but are also absolutely gorgeous. Featuring designs by local Toronto illustrators, graphic designers, and artists, these stylish cloths offer a lovely and eco-friendly flair to gifts of all kinds!

Give Art, Not Waste
Wrapping paper is a beloved tradition in our society, but its environmental impact is often overlooked. Each holiday season, discarded wrapping paper adds 540,000 tons of waste to landfills. As a single-use item, wrapping paper is designed to be ripped apart in seconds and then live in the trash forever. As it's often covered in harsh, chemically-based dyes and plastic coatings, there's no way to recycle it. That's why Wrappr is taking a different and even more exciting approach to gift wrapping.
Made from 100% organic cotton and printed with gentle dyes, Wrappr's gift wraps are safely compostable. Once these fabric wraps have served their purpose, toss them in your compost bin and they'll break down in just 2-5 months. However, we think they offer many more uses beyond simply concealing a gift!
In addition to revamping the practice of gift wrapping, Wrappr's products are also packaged simply and with sustainability in mind. Each cloth is attached to a card made from FSC-Certified paper that also doubles as a gift tag! Designed after the pre-digital age library card, gifters and receivers can keep track of all the numerous reuses and re-gifting that the cloth has been a part of.
Plus, Wrappr gives back to the community by supporting local creators. All of Wrappr's designs are original pieces of artwork from local Toronto artists. And for every product sold, $1 will go right to the artist. Support artists and show your commitment to a more sustainable world with Wrappr!
