World Centric
In 2004, World Centric Founder Aseem Das knew he wanted to shed light on the environmental and social problems facing the planet. Knowing that billions of people live without basic necessities or adequate resources, he set off to share knowledge via hosting documentaries, speakers, courses, and learning guides based on human rights and sustainability topics. As their reach grew, Das looked for ways to continue to support the company's goals without relying on donations and grants‚ and that's where the products came in.
World Centric began selling Fair Trade and compostable products in 2005, and the product portion of their business took off. Within a few years, World Centric had registered as a for-profit social enterprise, enabling them to continue to support communities across the globe through their education and resources, while providing compostable products to customers worldwide. Although they are now a for profit company, World Centric stays true to their original mission‚ and has donated 25% of profits to grassroots organizations since 2009.
Throughout their different phases of growth, one thing has stayed constant‚ World Centric is on a mission to change the world for people and planet alike.

For a Better World
World Centric puts ethics first in each aspect of their business. The products themselves are all made from renewable plants like wheat, sugarcane, and corn, and require less energy to manufacture than traditional plastic disposables. Their paper products are sourced from sustainably managed sources certified by SFI or FSC, and many of their agricultural products are leftover waste that farmers would otherwise burn or throw away.
Plus, World Centric isn't afraid of certifications‚ they prefer them! They know that transparency is important, and have certifications across the board that prove their claims. When it comes to the products, most items tote the USDA BioPreferred Program label, which means their items have been third-party certified to contain biobased content. World Centric also knows that where the products end up when you're done using them matters, so they've gained certifications by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), Compost Manufacturing Alliance (CMA), and AUSTRIA OK Compost HOME Certification to back up the different levels of home and industrial compostability.
On top of that, World Centric puts people first. They third party audits for fair working conditions based on Fair Labor Association Code of Conduct for factories in China. These guidelines establish best practices for wages, working conditions, and the treatment of all workers. They're also a part of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, a global leader in advancing business opportunities for Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American suppliers in the corporate supply chain.
World Centric is also a B Corp‚ and has been named a Best for the World honoree at that! Ranking in the top 10% of all certified B Corps, they meet strict third-party standards for their company ethics, transparency, and accountability for social and environmental sustainability. They're also a Green America Certified Business, meaning they're committed to using business as a platform for social change.
If that wasn't enough, we've got one more reason to love World Centric. In addition to being a 1% for the Planet Member, meaning they pledge to give 1% of annual sales to environmental non-profits, World Centric takes it a step further. Since 2009, they've donated 25% of their profits to grassroots organizations fighting for social and environmental causes.
