While running a greenhouse in Maine, founder Sally Erickson, needed a better way to keep vegetables fresh without plastic—and discovered a simple truth: like fresh flowers, vegetables need moisture to stay vibrant. Made from breathable organic cotton, Vejibags create the ideal balance of humidity and airflow, helping vegetables stay crisp for days—even weeks—longer. It’s a simple solution people quickly come to rely on: no more wilted lettuce or slimy greens, just “Wet it. Bag it. Crisp it.”

Each Vejibag is thoughtfully made in the USA using 100% organic cotton, sourced from a Texas worker-owned farming cooperative and sewn in North Carolina by a worker-owned textile facility. The entire process follows a circular, zero-waste model—fabric is cut to eliminate scrap, so nearly every inch is used. Durable, reusable, completely plastic-free, and compostable at the end of their life, Vejibags are designed to replace single-use plastic while delivering long-lasting, everyday performance.

Now led by co-owners Stacy and Ann, Vejibag is a small, women-owned business with a loyal following of home cooks, gardeners, and market shoppers who are tired of throwing food away. Their mission is simple: help people waste less, use less plastic, and bring a more natural, sustainable rhythm into everyday kitchen life.

Sally Erickson has designed her company around creating good in this world. She started off with the mission to eliminate plastic use in transporting vegetables and ended up benefiting more than just the environment. Not only do they use sustainable materials in all of their products, but they also put an emphasis on protecting the people behind every step of the manufacturing process. Their bags are made from 100% organic french terry cotton grown by the Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative. Every bag is hand sewn by employee-owned Opportunity Threads located in North Carolina and is free from dyes and chemicals. With a simple three step process of wetting the bag and wringing it out, rinsing the vegetables, and storing it, we love how easy it is to keep your moisture loving vegetables fresh. Vejibags are ethically made, 100% certified organic cotton, and made in the USA contributing to sustainable produce shopping practices.
