United by Blue
Founded by Brian Linton in 2010, United by Blue was created with the idea that a successful outdoor brand can do some serious conservation work for the planet. From designing products that give back to our planet, to hosting and organizing beach cleanups, United by Blue puts thought into each and every aspect of their brand so they can do the most good possible.
Initially specializing in organic cotton shirts, they have since expanded to offer recycled polyester, ethically-sourced wool, Tencel, and more; reducing the amount of water, energy, and raw resources that go into their collections. They're doing the research to find suppliers of cotton that use no fertilizers or pesticides that could run into waterways, and source their recycled polyester from used water bottles that could otherwise end up in the landfills or oceans!
Inspired by the beauty of our surroundings and an ambition to steer meaningful change, this Philadelphia based brand believes their business has a responsibility to promote economic, social, and environmental wellbeing for the planet and its people through the production and consumption of their products. That's why, for every product sold, United by Blue removes one pound of trash from our world's oceans and waterways. Their team has rolled up their sleeves and tackled polluted rivers, beaches, creeks, and streams (with a little help from their friends), to make a huge impact.

Responsible, durable goods
United by Blue doesn't just talk the talk of sustainability‚ they walk the walk. They're proud to be a certified B-Corporation company, part of a group of for-profit companies held to rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. In this supportive community of like-minded businesses, United by Blue continues to grow and transform their company culture to be the very best they can be when it comes to products, materials, and giving back to nature.
In addition to being a certified B-Corp company, United by Blue holds their suppliers to specific environmental standards, ensuring the materials they get are low impact, but high quality. Plus, they offer their employees paid time off for community service, and over 75% percent of their office supplies are made from recycled content! Always innovating, their brick and mortar stores located in Philadelphia and New York are entirely sustainable, while doubling as community hotspots offering organic, locally roasted coffee and tea. From their materials sourced, to the packing slip that's printed, they've reduced their impact in every step of production to give you a shopping experience that's totally guilt free.
You want to know your purchase is making a difference. That's why for every item sold, they pledge to remove one pound of plastics and trash from American oceans and waterways. They host regular cleanups with various non-profits to get local communities engaged in their efforts, bringing United by Blue employees and local volunteers together around one common goal. Since their mission started in 2010, they have successfully hosted 207 cleanups, traveled to 27 states, and removed a whopping 1,051,079 pounds of trash! United by Blue always believed that businesses have the potential to make a difference, and in just 8 years they proved what an amazing impact happens when communities come together over a passion for the planet.
