Redecker
Friedel Redecker went blind as a child in Germany, but after turning to crafting hand-made brushes, he was able to start a business that's now known worldwide for sustainability; what an accomplishment! His resilience and patience allowed him to use the skills he fostered while making brushes to start the Redecker company is 1935. Since then, the company has expanded to other products including dish brushes, toilet brushes, dusters, and even makeup brushes! Their wide range of products makes it easy to find whatever you need with ease.
The Redecker family and company go together hand-in-hand, which is why the business has been in the family for three generations! Not many companies can boast such a feat. When Friedel passed, his son and daughter in law continued the family business, switching to the use of all natural materials in 1988. They kept the artisanal knowledge that Friedel had acquired as a craftsman in order to ensure the continued excellent quality of their products. Keeping the business in the family not only ensured great quality, but also protected the family values which make Redecker the sustainable, quality company we know and love!
To this day, sustainability, quality, and practical design are central to all of the products that Redecker produces, and EarthHero can definitely get behind that! Since their products are made to last for years, and are made from natural or recyclable materials, each item they sell helps to keep many plastic products out of economic circulation and thus reduces your plastic footprint.

Handmade Since 1935
The Redecker family is working to end the throwaway mentality that's alive in our society today. This is a big challenge, but one that they're ready to meet. Rather than creating a product that's made to be thrown away, Redecker creates products that will last for years, ensuring that your investment in their products has paid off. They provide detailed instructions on how to properly care for and clean their products to ensure maximum longevity.
What makes Redecker products even more enticing is that when you finally do need to replace them, they can often be recycled or composted! With replaceable, plant based brush heads, and products made from 100% natural materials or stainless steel, products can easily be switched out or taken apart and turned into new resources. The Redecker family recognizes that quality and sustainability are vital, and that throwaway plastic products have trivial benefits and drastic consequences.
Now let's talk about what you've all been wondering, what are the brushes made of? The primary materials used to make Redecker products include various woods, animal bristles/hair, and vegetable fibers. Furthermore, all the types of woods used come from sustainable sources, and the animal fibers are ethically sourced from distributors that utilize bi-products from the meat industry. Plus, all of the brush handles can be composted at the end of their life!
To top it all off, Redecker refrains from using any toxic wood finishers when sealing their wooden handles and brushes. This not only keeps these toxins out of the environment, but it also protects the health of their workers. Redecker is dedicated to having happy, fulfilled workers who enjoy coming to work, speaking to their socially conscious business practices.
