It's no secret that plastic is harming the environment and our ecosystems. It can often seem like such an overwhelming problem. Where do you even start? Well, one place can be your bathroom. Look into your average american bathroom and it will be stuffed with tens if not hundreds of personal care products, all in dreaded plastic packaging. There are zero waste alternatives to almost all of the products you use now, but they're not always the most convenient to whip up (you want me to mix what with what?). Two sisters, confronted by this harsh reality in their own bathrooms, came up with an awesome idea for those of us who want less plastic in our lives, but don't want to forgo high quality personal care products to make it happen.
Founded by Lindsey and Alison Delaplaine, Plaine Products is a company like no other‚ they don't just sell an environmentally friendly product, but a sustainable service too. Coming from a family with a small business background and love for the ocean, the sisters grew up with the skills to make this sustainable dream a reality. They've created not only chemical-free, natural, and eco-friendly hair and body care products, but a system to reuse the aluminum containers over and over again. The process goes like this: Purchase the product of your choosing, whether it be Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Body Lotion, or Hand Wash. The product is shipped to you and when you're running low, you order some more and send your empties back in the box your new product was shipped in. It's that easy!

Here's a crazy statistic: Unless change happens, and soon, we are on track to have more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050. Plaine Products is working to combat that statistic by using recyclable aluminum bottles for their product, as well as refilling empty bottles to be reused! If you're worried about the cleanliness of reusing bottles, don't fret! They are thoroughly cleaned and sterilized once you send them back to Plaine Products, so they are safe to use again and again and again!
Not only is every bottle refillable and recyclable, the contents are great for the planet, too! Plaine Products is dedicated to being chemical free–so each ingredient and formula is run through the Environmental Working Group's database to ensure every product is safe and non-toxic.
Plaine Products participates in two powerful environmental certifications and programs: B Corporation Certification and 1% for the Planet. Being a B Corp means that Plaine Products meets rigorous third party standards and are a part of a select community of businesses that are dedicated to making positive social, environmental, and economic changes that impact both the people and the planet.
