Holy Lamb Organics

After a long and fruitless search for a sustainable and organic pillow to take on a backpacking trip, Willow Whitton decided the best choice would be to make her own. Willow had high standards for the products she welcomed into her home and lifestyle and she wanted this new addition to last beyond the trip, offer nighttime comfort year-round, and incorporate her strong environmental values. She wasn't satisfied with what was currently available on the market and believed that all homes and shoppers deserved the best.

In 2001, soon after Willow's foray into pillow-creation, she started Holy Lamb Organics, a wool-based home, and bedding company. The company began as a home-based business in Olympia, Washington, driven on a mission to promote healthier living through handcrafted and sustainable home essentials like bath towels and bedding. Just a few years later and after much expansion, Holy Lamb Organics relocated to rural Oakville, Washington, and set up shop in an old leather toolery readily equipped with industrial sewing machines. Nicknamed, The Little Bit, their century-old storefront offers a heritage feel and inspires HLO to carry on the beautiful tradition of making durable, earth-friendly textiles by hand.

Holy Lamb Organics offers small-scale and hand-crafted essentials made from organic cotton and ethically sourced wool. Their soft and cozy goods range from plush mattress toppers to luxurious bath towels and cozy hand-stitched comforters. Made sustainably and with extreme attention to care, Holy Lamb Organics offers families everything that they need to support a healthy, eco-friendly life and home.

Handcrafted Organic Living

Holy Lamb Organics is cognizant of each and every step of their process to ensure that each product is made to the highest standard and in a safe, inclusive workplace. Through a meticulous selection of materials and purposefully chosen manufacturing partners, founder Willow Whitton's love of simple and sustainable living is incorporated into each of Holy Lamb's products. As a foundational element of the manufacturing process, the cotton and wool that HLO employs are sourced with the utmost care. They ensure quality and sustainability by using only Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton. Their goods are also manufactured in a GOTS-certified facility located in Pakistan that abides by strict regulations around environmental and toxicological criteria from materials to labor practices to shipping. Their organic cotton, sourced from India, is free of pesticides and herbicides common in conventional cotton cultivation. These farming practices also mean a safer environment for their farmworkers, the preservation of healthy soils, and reduced irrigation needs. Named after the sweet creatures they source fleece from, Holy Lamb Organics products use wool, sourced from both the US and New Zealand. This Premium Eco Wool, the leading certification for ethical and eco-friendly wool, means that not only are the sheep free-range but that their wool is treated simply and without carbonization (which uses harsh chemicals like Sulfuric Acid and bleach to treat wool), common in conventional wool products. Their wool, which is a renewable resource, is processed naturally without the use of harsh chemicals, leaving a sweet and mild scent reminiscent of sunny pastures. Plus, the fibers are continuously conditioned and kept fluffy for years because wool retains 1% of its naturally occurring lanolin oil. This softness also means it's a great alternative to traditional sheepskin which is stiff, heavy, and tanned with harsh chemicals. Finally, the natural properties of wool fiber support body temperature regulation and are moisture-wicking, ideal for bedtime comforters and pillows, and fabulous for all seasons, from chilly winters to humid summer nights. Beyond sourcing sustainable materials, Holy Lamb Organics is committed to maintaining a zero-waste status by using no plastic wrap or synthetic packaging materials. Instead, their products ship in easily recyclable, sturdy cardboard boxes secured with paper tape! For Holy Lamb Organics, Corporate Social Responsibility is a must, demonstrated through a mixture of direct financial contributions, in-kind donations, and volunteerism to support environmental and social sustainability in the community. For instance, in 2017, they partnered with the National Alliance to End Homelessness by donating a portion of their proceeds to support home insecurity efforts. The following year, they partnered with GRuB and the Hands-On Museum to support green education services in Washington and with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to highlight prevention and care. When looking to welcome home essentials into your home, Holy Lamb Organics is a perfect choice. Their ethically made and sustainable goods are made with the best cotton and wool materials that are sure to bring peace and comfort to your lovely home.
