eco-kids + elseware

Eco Kids began in 2008 in Maine by its founders Kip and Cammie Weeks. Their first product was Eco-dough, a natural nontoxic alternative to Playdough. Over the next few years they expanded to include several more natural, eco-friendly creative tools and art supplies for kids.

Eco Kids was purchased in late 2019 by Roxanne Quimby, the co-founder of Burt’s Bees. Roxanne has continued to grow the product selection with its original motto “creative play the natural way” at the heart of the company. She recently developed a line of natural, sustainable art supplies for teens and adults called Elseware to encourage people of all ages to create!

The company has since moved its operations to Raleigh, NC where the majority of their products are currently made.

Creative play, the natural way

As a small family business, eco-kids is focused on creating in a way that's both earth and kid- friendly. Everything they make is created in the USA, in their hometown of Portland, Maine. eco-kids is taking big steps in the realm of sustainability. All of their products are made using ingredients that many of us could find in our pantry at home! From non-GMO flour, organic fruit extracts, and cream of tartar to FDA approved soy based inks, they're child-safe and parent-approved. Your kid will put things in their mouth, but eco-kids gives you the peace of mind to know that it's okay. They go a step further by packaging their products in an eco-friendly way as well. They use FDA certified paper, and print them in a wind-powered factory using soy-based inks. We love that they're taking the steps to reduce their footprint wherever they can!
