Bumbleride

When new parents or caregivers are looking for a stroller (maybe their very first!), there are some important areas to pay attention to. For one, the vehicle must be safe, secure, and comfortable. If they're into the outdoors? Some sturdy wheels to take them from sidewalk to trail. But what about sustainability? While not a value typically linked to strollers, more and more parents are focused on making purchases that have a positive impact on the planet and the future of their little ones. When partners Emily and Matt Reichardt had their first daughter, Ella, they were concerned about her comfort and safety, especially during morning jogs and trail runs. As active and busy parents, they noticed a gap in the world of baby gear that was both suitable for on-the-go parents and gentle on the planet. This led them to create Bumbleride, a company focused on high-quality, performance-based strollers with an eco-twist!

Bumbleride gear provides the ideal solution for navigating a busy lifestyle while incorporating core environmental and family-centered values. Based out of San Diego, California, these thoughtfully designed products are great for going on a morning jog in the park, grabbing fresh produce at the farmer's market, or even hitting the trails. Bumbleride strollers allow parents to easily bring their little one along for the ride. Their strollers and accessories are made with earth-friendly materials including salvaged ocean plastic, fabric made from recycled plastic water bottles, and organically grown cotton. Plus, the stroller's off-road capabilities ensure that both parent and baby can enjoy the outdoors together, whether on the sidewalk in the city or on a trail in the hills.

Cleaner oceans, happier families

Consciously-Sourced Materials With Bumbleride, parents can retain the priority of safety and comfort while incorporating their own sustainability values. Bumbleride has honed their craft to integrate a deep commitment to both product quality and attention to environmental impact. Bumbleride stroller frames are composed of at least 25% recycled plastic recovered from the shoreline of Taiwan. Plus, beginning in 2020, Bumbleride has committed to increasing this amount as a way to further reduce their manufacturing footprint and protect marine life. Moreover, all of their eco fabric, including the padding on all strollers, is made with 100% rPET. rPET is an eco-alternative to virgin polyester, using 30-35% less water to create while helping keep additional plastics out of landfills. Since 2011, Bumbleride has upcycled over 1 million water bottles into their fabrics! These inventive creations are certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ensuring a chemical-free product that is safe for even the most sensitive baby skin. They also employ a PFC-free Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating, meaning the strollers are resistant to messy spills and unexpected rainfall. Standard DWR is known to emit fluorocarbons which, while water-resistant, are also highly toxic to the environment. As a liquid treatment to the stroller, Bumbleride's PFC-free DWR protects the stroller from moisture in a safe and non-toxic way. Finally, to further enhance their gorgeous strollers, Bumbleride follows a cutting-edge dye process for each of their black models that, when compared to conventional dying, saves about 25-40 gallons of water per stroller! The consciously sourced materials don't end with the strollers. Whether organic cotton or recycled materials are your preference, Bumbleride has you covered! Their organic cotton stroller inserts are made with 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, which means no harmful herbicides or pesticides were used during the growing process. A great way to add color to a stroller, these cozy inserts are also dyed with a low-impact solution that's less water-intensive than traditional coloring techniques. Additionally, the company's reversible stroller line features all-natural cork handlebars as an alternative to their PVC-free adjustable bars. Cork is naturally antimicrobial, waterproof, and durable (especially great while on a long walk or run!). Consciously sourced from the bark of Cork Oak trees in China, the material is completely renewable and doesn't require trees to be cut down for its collection. Ethical Manufacturing In every step of the process, family comes first. That's why Bumbleride has been designing products that are ethically manufactured in a family-owned and operated factory in Taiwan since 2004. The partnership began after an extensive search, which included deliberately sourcing a factory partner that met a set of high standards, such as requirements for fair wages, safe working conditions, and a culture centered on family. Here, small-batch manufacturing is possible with an attentive focus on high quality and zero waste so nothing gets discarded and conscious creation is top of mind. For the parent striving to help make the world a better place for their little one, Bumbleride strollers offer a sleek and durable, sidewalk to trail option that puts planet and people first.
