Who They Are
As a kid growing up in the suburbs, Alpine Provisions Founder Joshua Scott Onysko, never felt like he really fit in. So when he was 16, he dropped out of school, bought a 1973 VW camper, and moved to Vermont. Arriving at the peak of Autumn, Joshua found himself amongst the golden trees and in the crisp mountain air. Finally, he was where he belonged. From then on, Joshua has worked to share the experience of the outdoors with everyone, no matter how far from the mountains they might be.
In 2018, Joshua started Alpine Provisions, a plastic-free and organic personal care line, as a way to use business to create positive social and environmental change. He knew he wanted to share the beauty of nature with everyone, particularly those who have historically been unable to access it, so he established the Alpine Provisions Scholarship Fund. This fund supports the Outward Bound Leadership program and provides three-week-long wilderness adventures for disadvantaged youth. Alpine Provisions believe that for future generations to understand and respect nature, they must first be able to witness the life-shaping perspective of being immersed in the mountains, forests, and untamed wilderness of the planet. By giving the gift of the outdoors to the youth of today, we can help inspire them into becoming conscious leaders of the future. From day one it has been critical to the brand’s mission that a portion of sales goes to support the Alpine Provisions Scholarship Fund. No petroleum-based plastics are used in this product or its packaging. Plastic can be difficult to properly recycle, may never biodegrade, and is known to leech toxic chemicals into our bodies and environment. Single-use plastics also require extracting and processing of finite resources, so seeking out biodegradable, infinitely recyclable, or durable products and packaging is recommended whenever possible.

Cruelty Free is a certification process through PETA that labels products that are not tested on animals. All companies that are included on PETA’s cruelty-free list have signed a statement verifying that they don’t use ingredients or create finished products that help conduct or pay for any tests on animals.
Cruelty Free International certifies that cosmetic and household products are not tested on animals. These companies are audited to ensure that the ingredients and finished products are not causing harm to animals.
Organic materials and ingredients are grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, promoting a healthier use of land and decreasing harmful agricultural runoff. By steering clear of toxic chemicals, farm workers experience less exposure to hazardous conditions, promoting social responsibility as well as environmental stewardship.
