There is no doubt that washing your clothes in cold water is a great way to save energy and reduce your carbon footprint. However, there’s a catch…not all laundry detergents yield the same clean result. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it? We did some washing (get it?) and uncovered some of the best cold water laundry detergent wash options.

Say Hello to Tide Coldwater Clean Liquid Laundry Detergent

Tough on stains, gentle on clothes. It’s all in the formula. Added bonus, it is designed to work well in all types of washing machines, including high-efficiency (HE) machines because believe it or not, detergents aren’t made for all washing machines.

✔️Clean clothes ✔️Environmentally Friendly: Seventh Generation Liquid Laundry Detergent

Plant-based detergent that is free from harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances. Yes please.  This detergent is environmentally friendly, making it a great choice for those who are looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

A small company with REAL change: Dropps!

In 1980, a cotton sweater factory created Cot'n Wash, a laundry detergent that was effective but gentle on clothing and skin. Years later, Cot'n Wash became Dropps, a small, compact pod with a sustainable formula that is gentle on the environment. Dropps aims to inspire and educate consumers about the importance of using environmentally-friendly products. Sounds right up our alley, doesn’t it?

NatureFirst is an ecological design platform founded by Justine Potashnik and Noel Graupner.

They started by developing natural-dying organic linens in India and discovered the soapberry, which inspired them to explore its natural cleaning properties. They developed their first collection, Nature First, which focuses on a fully closed loop in all avenues of products they are producing.

Tru Earth co-founder Ryan was concerned about the amount of plastic in children's toy videos on YouTube and decided to take action by creating an eco-friendly laundry detergent with a smaller packaging.

With the help of his friends, they tried the laundry strips and it worked. They launched a webpage to promote the product and received 1,500 subscribers in 30 days, leading to the creation of Tru Earth, an alternative to wasteful plastic laundry packaging. Sounds good to us. We’ll take it!!

By using these laundry detergents, you’ll be doing your part to reduce your carbon footprint and save some money along the way. BONUS - using products that are safe on skin and health. How’s that for a triple whammy? So what are you waiting for, go ahead and wash on cold, care-free! Don’t forget to follow the label instructions for best results.
