Eden Reforestation Projects
By partnering with village communities, Eden Reforestation Projects is able to restore forests on a massive scale. Their projects create jobs, protect ecosystems, and help mitigate climate change. They utilize an “Employ to Plant” methodology that benefits communities while reforesting land. This concept gives members of these village communities steady employment, provides food stability, and offers safe shelter. Eden Reforestation Projects partners with villages that are dedicated to forest restoration, and then hire and train local villagers to plant and protect new native trees. Eden Reforestation Projects reports an 80% seedling survival rate!
Ocean Blue Project
Ocean Blue Project is an Oregon-based, environmental non-profit and a fellow 1% for the Planet member that strives to restore the world’s oceans, beaches, and rivers through volunteer work, education, and activism. They organize clean-ups, find solutions to keep pollutants from entering ecosystems, and provide youth education. The organization works with hundreds of donors that support plastic recovery projects as well as hosts clean-ups all over the United States. Each donation allows volunteers to plant native trees, remove plastic from oceans, and save endangered marine species.
Brave Trails
Brave Trails is a national non-profit organization dedicated to building the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders. Connecting LGBTQ+ youth to their people, place, and passion, Brave Trails offers leadership summer camps, family camps, mental health services, and mentorship programs for the next generation of LGBTQ+ change makers. All of their programs focus on helping LGBTQ+ youth find what they need most to thrive.
