Recyclable

This product contains recyclable materials. It may be recyclable with curbside recycling collections, but might need to be sent to a special recycling facility. Contact your local waste-hauler or recycling facility for details. Appropriate facilities may not exist in your area.

Sustainable Lifestyle

This product helps promote a more sustainable lifestyle. Whether it encourages re-use and the movement away from disposable products, or it promotes sustainable actions like recycling and composting, this product can help you lower your environmental footprint.

Recycled Plastic

Recycled plastic utilizes salvaged post-industrial plastic scraps and post-consumer products such as water bottles and other plastic containers, and transforms them into new products. The containers are sorted, crushed, and then heated to form resins, which are liquid plastics that can harden into new shapes. These resins can be molded and used to create anything from carpet to outdoor furniture. Recycling plastic lowers the amount of petroleum extracted and the production of greenhouse gasses associated with first-time plastic production. Plus, by using these existing materials, we’re benefiting from the original energy and resources spent to create them in the first place, while diverting waste from the landfill.

100% Recycled Content

Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc). This product is made from 100% recycled content.

Did you know that every time you do your laundry, your synthetic clothes release hundreds of thousands of microfibers (tiny plastic and chemical coated fibers) that eventually end up in our waterways? It's even estimated that NYC alone has 6.8 BILLION microfibers flowing into its harbor each day. Cora Ball knew this problem had to be addressed at the source (us!) –- which inspired their easy-to-use laundry ball that catches the microfibers that naturally shed from clothes in the wash. Made froRead Morem 100% recycled plastic, and recyclable after you enjoy it for years, the Cora Ball works by trapping and securing threads in its "spindles" that can be easily cleaned as microfibers collect. Make an impact on ocean pollution with Cora Ball!

  • To use, just toss it in your washer to start catching microfibers! Although Cora Ball is very gentle, we recommend washing delicates, fine fabrics, lace & tassels separately so they don't get caught in the Cora Ball.
  • How fast you will see fuzz in your Cora Ball depends on water temperature, type of clothes, lifestyle, detergent type, and washer mode!
  • To clean: when you can visibily see tangles of fibers & hairs, move the stalks of the Cora Ball to the side and pinch the tangles to pull them out easily. Dispose of fibers in your trash bin.

About the Company

Cora Ball

Microplastics or microfibers are the teeny tiny particles that are polluting our waterways at a concerning rate. Surprisingly enough, these particles most often originate from your washing machine. Clothing that contains synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester, rayon, acrylic, or spandex, are essentially plastic and shed particles each time we wash them! This microfiber pollution ends up being eaten by ocean animals and then, in turn, ends up on our plates. Cora Ball was founded by underwater archaeologist and marine scientist Rachel Miller and offers a human-scale solution to a global issue. Cora Ball is the first ever microfiber catching laundry ball. Inspired the way coral filters the ocean water from foreign particles, Cora Ball mimics that behaviour and catches all the bad microplastic particles from your clothing before they make it to the water. The ball works in any washing machine. You simply throw it in with your laundry and it will catch microfibers as well as hair to prevent them from flowing out with the drain water. Once the laundry is done, you clean Cora like you clean a hairbrush, taking out the bits of fuzz and putting them in the trash. The best part? The ball itself if made from 100% recycled plastic. So you can maximize your impact one laundry load at a time.

    Hasn't caught anything.

I’ve been using the cora ball for a couple months now in several loads of laundry of all fiber types. It hasn’t caught anything. Complete waste of money. Honestly, don’t buy it. Just get a microplastics filter instead.

It has yet to pick up any microfibers after 3 washes.

    Waste of time and money

If I could do so, I would give it negative stars. I have been using the Cora Ball for 8 months now, waiting for the buildup of microfibers to occur. Nothing. The only thing the Cora Ball is good for capturing is drawstrings (from hoodies, etc.) which then have to be painstakingly unthreaded from the ball’s teeth. Please don’t spend your money on this item. Maybe it was a good idea in the design phase, but in execution it doesn’t do anything at all.

Fell Apart or Tore Clothes Apart

    Beth

I enthusiastically bought two cora balls. One broke within the first few uses, the layers came apart. The remaining ball was great at grabbing the smallest thread and shredding my clothes, leaving a messy ball full of threads. I never found pet hair or microfibers in the ball, just threads.

    does not last

I had it for a bout a month and a half and the whole thing came apart. It is easy enough to put back together with the clips but once its back in the washer it will break apart again. I am guessing there is some piece that broke off of it that kept it together but it is disappointing how quickly it fell apart.

    Absolutely Nothing

I have been using this with every load of laundry for several months now – not only does it not get microplastics caught up, nothing has been caught in it, not even fur or my “ridiculously long hair”. If you’re looking to keep microplastics out of the waterways, use a GuppyFriend instead.

This product damaged all of my clothes. It latches into a loose string and completely tore all my clothes. Useless.

Useless .... Now a fun dog toy

    Julia

Useless for its original function and after sitting in a cupboard for months unused now has become a favorite dog toy for our dog Nova. It works because she is unable to chew it and destroy it like she does with tennis balls. Keeping a close eye on her (it’s early days as a dog toy) to make sure she doesn’t damage her gums. When I used it in the washing machine the most it ever collected was an odd piece of thread or a hair or too. But most of the time it came out completely clean. Save your money.. instead wash your clothes less often, on a cooler temp., with an eco friendly washing “detergent”..

    Doesn’t work

    April

I’ve used this for about 5 months in a HE washer. We are a family of 3 and 1 cat. This literally has not picked anything up except literally 1 cat hair! My dryer lint screen picks up more microfiber than this thing. Do not waste your money. I had high hopes but was very disappointed.

I wanted to like this product, as I try to be green when I can. However, my last two loads of laundry have had shirts come out with tiny holes in that they didn’t have going in. I wash jeans and bras separately, so there weren’t any hooks or zippers to catch on anything. Best I can figure is, it was the Cora Ball. It would also catch threads and tear out seams. In addition, I never noticed it collecting any microfibers.

Seems like greenwashing in the end. Can’t return from opening and using to find out, now just have plastic waste for nothing. While also possibly contributing worse to ther problem? In hindsight, why wouldn’t putting a plastic ball leach more microplastics?

I haven’t been using for that long of a time, but I know that it isn’t catching much because my hair is left in the machine, not picked up by the ball. The only thing it has accomplished is partially shredding a piece of clothing that had a loose thread.
Since I already have it I’ll continue using it. I hope to see it actually pick up something that it’s supposed to.
