Organic linen is made from the flax plant, a versatile crop that grows with minimal water and no chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The entire flax plant is generally harvested and utilized, and the fibers used to create fabric run the length of the stem. These long fibers create a super durable fabric, and result in little to no waste in harvesting! Creating linen usually involves mechanical pulling and retting to soften and release the fibers from the stems. These fibers can then be woven into fabric without using chemical processes.

Wool is a natural and renewable resource that can be harvested annually from sheep. Sheep are relatively low impact animals, but can overgraze land if not raised properly. Wool production can also be insecticide and water intensive, but the finished yarn is absorbent and requires little dye during processing. Untreated wool is biodegradable.

Measurements
- In order to provide a tight fit in a standard crib, these mattresses are intentionally slightly larger. Due to their soft nature they can fit in a slightly smaller frame or stretch out into a slightly larger one. Your mattress may temporarily settle and be misshapen during the shipping process but will reshape when laid flat for a few days.

Product Care
- Wool Roots overfills their mattresses and compress by hand yet typically the mattress will still settle between 10-15% in the first year with use. To avoid uneven wear or indentations, place your baby in different positions on the mattress for each sleep. Flip and rotate the mattress once a week for the first three months and seasonally for the remainder of the life of the mattress.
- We recommend using a mattress protector. Leave the mattress free from any covers or toys for a couple of hours each day in order to release any moisture into the air and keep your mattress fresh. Occasionally vacuum the mattress to move fresh air through the fibers. Flip and rotate your mattress every week for the first three months of use, and then seasonally. Once a year your mattress should be aired out in bright sunshine for a couple of hours. The sun will naturally disinfect, freshen and brighten the mattress. To avoid moths and other pests, do not store mattress in a dark or damp space. If you need to store your mattress for an extended amount of time, we recommend using lavender sachets or lavender oil saturated fabric in the storage bag to keep your mattress fresh and deter pests. Air and freshen your mattress before storing and store in a clean, dry location.
