Denim, redesigned with the planet in mind. The Wanderer Flare High-Rise Jeans in Gracie Wash from Porter Blue Apparel are made with a blend of sustainably grown and harvested cotton, Tencel fabric, and elastane for a durable yet stretchy denim fabric that will last you years. Ethically manufactured in Sri Lanka, Porter Blue Apparel uses waterless washing techniques that use 65% less energy, 75% less water, and 85% fewer chemicals than typical denim manufacturing. These fabulous jeans feature recycled hardware, a high-rise contour waistband, sailor-inspired patch pockets, and a belled leg opening with a blind stitch hem detail.
Organic Content
Organic materials and ingredients are grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, promoting a healthier use of land and decreasing harmful agricultural runoff. By steering clear of toxic chemicals, farm workers experience less exposure to hazardous conditions, promoting social responsibility as well as environmental stewardship. Choosing organic materials eliminates the use of insecticides and other harmful chemicals, promotes efficient resource use, and results in a safer products and a cleaner planet!

Recycled Content
Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc).

Safe and Fair Labor
We support safe and fair labor practices when producing sustainable products. This company cares for their workers by fostering a safe work environment and providing their employees with fair wage.

Women Owned
This brand is owned by a majority of women. This includes everything from a small one-woman shop to a larger company where more than 51% of women make up the ownership team.

Porter Blue Apparel

Operating on the principles of design, freedom, and intentionality, San Francisco-based Porter Blue Apparel offers a variety of jeans in diverse cuts. Jeans, and specifically denim jeans, use primarily cotton, a very water and land-intensive crop. In contrast, Porter Blue Apparel employs only Better Cotton Denims, which use 75% less water, 85% fewer chemicals, and 65% less energy than conventionally-grown cotton AND doesn't contribute to soil degradation. Through their partnership with the global non-profit Better Cotton Initiative, Porter Blue Apparel contributes to the employment of safer and environmentally friendly cotton farming practices, where farmers are taught eco-agriculture techniques to reduce their water usage by up to 40%.

Through their inventive and eco-friendly process, Porter Blue offers denim that is ethically and sustainably produced -- something very hard to come by in the world of denim. Even the buttons and zippers on each pair of jeans are made from post-consumer recycled hardware from discarded garments. Talk about paying attention to every detail. With Porter Blue Apparel, all of our eco and ethical-denim dreams have come true!
