Plus, Kyrgies uses low-impact dyes and the leather is tanned without chrome or chromium, so you never have to worry about pesky chemicals lurking in your shoes.
We support small businesses and craftspeople who create each of their products with care. Handmade products are generally produced on a small scale, without the use of large energy consuming factories and production facilities. Buying handmade helps support art, communities, and people's livelihoods.

Low Impact Dyes or Inks
Low impact dyes and inks can include vegetable, soy, or water-based alternatives and generally do not contain toxins such as heavy metals, plasticizers, flurocarbons, and fomaldehyde. They typically also use less water than conventional dyes and inks.

Recycled Packaging
This product is packaged or shipped in materials that contain recycled content.

Wool is a natural and renewable resource that can be harvested annually from sheep. Sheep are relatively low impact animals, but can overgraze land if not raised properly. Wool production can also be insecticide and water intensive, but the finished yarn is absorbent and requires little dye during processing. Untreated wool is biodegradable.

Have you ever thought about where your footwear comes from? How the materials were made and the people behind the label who work to construct the shoes? The guys at Kyrgies certainly have. From field to foot, the founders of Kyrgies have sustainability and direct community impact built into everything they do. Steve Anderson and Barclay Saul don't only talk the talk when it comes to transparency in the supply chain, they walk the walk - literally! Their ethical slipper collection starts with a tradition that is over 1,000 years old - Kyrgyz felting. The slippers are produced in Bishkek, Kyrgystan, where wet felting with local sheep's wool has been a staple craft for centuries. Workers and families pass this skill on from one generation to the next and these slippers are one way they celebrate wool and preserve cultural heritage.

Finally my feet don't stink

I've struggled to find a slipper that provides comfort, support, and doesn't make my feet and thus the slippers stink. I've had these slippers for 2 weeks and even in the summer heat when we don't have the A/C on, my feet feel cool and don't smell at all! As another review said, they aren't fuzzy and aren't that cushioned, though the bottom is thick so I don't feel like my foot is essential on the floor. I've come to prioritize cool feet that don't stink over soft fuzzy comfort and support. I've been dealing with plantar fascistic the past two years so I always wear slippers or sandals around our hardwood floors. The limited support of these slippers so far feels like enough to keep my feet happy. And they don't stink! Worth the cost, a good cause, and non-stinky feet.

Very warm, a little stiff

Overall I'm very happy with these slippers and the mission they support. Fair warning they don't have a fuzzy or cushioned area where your foot goes if you're into that. Regardless, they are still extremely warm and have a great non-slip bottom.
