Recycled Aluminum

Recycling scrap aluminum uses just 5% of the energy required to create virgin aluminum. When first-time aluminum is manufactured, the extraction, transportation, and processing required uses large amounts of energy, emits CO2, and degrades the natural environment due to deforestation and mining. Recycling aluminum not only reduces these harmful consequences, but also decreases the amount of aluminum taking up space in landfills. Best of all, aluminum maintains the same properties each time it is recycled, so it can be transformed into new materials indefinitely.

Recycled Content

Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc). This product is made from recycled content.

I got the large press so that I could stop rolling out tortillas for dinner… It saves a lot of time and it looks great too.

Works well and plus it super pretty

We have transition to using no plastic so we needed to make our own tortillas …. this was a “gift” for my husband. It is heavy, I am sure on purpose but our tortilla were more uniform and thinner than just rolling them out as we had done previously.

Great product, a little heavy but small and easy to store. Very very useful for avoiding packaged tortillas in store.

    Paint issue

    Eleanor Arnold

The paint flaked off with each use. Don’t appreciate red speckled tortillas.

To save on plastic packaging from store-bought tortillas, I decided to invest in this tortilla press! It has been very easy to use and clean. It also came with a towel to hold the tortillas and keep them warm.

Hi Danielle! This XL tortilla press has a diameter of 9 inches, so it will not make 10-inch tortillas (but close)!

We’ve been making homemade tortillas for a while and rolling them out individually. This press works great and is so much faster! I spray it and use it without any plastic bags (because doesn’t that sort of defeat the purpose?) and it works fine for me.

No need to ever buy pre-made tortillas again

So unbelievably easy to make fresh tortillas with this press. There’s a tiny learning curve but once you get the hang of it, I think it’s easier than making a cup of coffee. Make dough with masa harina (for corn tortillas). Take a ziplock bag and cut it so you have two equal sized squares. (We spray ours with cooking spray to prevent sticking and reuse the same one over and over). Place one ziploc on the press, place a walnut to golf ball size ball dough on plastic, put the 2nd plastic on top, use the press. Peel off. That is it. You can use a griddle to heat the tortillas but we do a quick fry in a pan with a little canola oil. OMG. So much better than store bought. We have the large tortilla press and it works like a dream. Easy to clean, just wipe down. Soon we will be making flour tortillas. Truly, best product we’ve bought all year.

    Doesn't do the job

    dyoseloff (verified owner)

Update: My original must have been defective. I was generously sent a replacement and the new press works great! To get the tortillas a little thiner and bigger I gave them one pass with the rolling pin after the press. But that’s up to preference I made some without and they still turned out really well with big bubbles. Happy to have this for years to come.

Beautifully made but it doesn’t actually work and I missed the return window. I’ve been making flour tortillas for over a year now with a rolling pin and was very excited to upgrade to a large press. The top of the press is not flat so a spot on the outer lip touches the bottom before all the other parts. Meaning, tortillas don’t press to larger than the palm of my hand and they aren’t nearly thin enough. It’s good quality but unfortunately it’s useless.

Homemade tortillas are totally worth it!

    Elle (verified owner)

I’m so glad I finally got a tortilla press, and not just any tortilla press – this one is just beautifully made and good quality. It took a bit of fiddling around to get the masa harina dough consistency correct (the first few tortillas were too wet and wouldn’t leave the press in one piece) but once I got the recipe down, the tortillas came out amazing. It’s so simple to use the press – you just need to cut open a ziplock bag, press, turn 90 degrees, press again, and transfer to the hot griddle. Can’t wait for our next taco night.

I make tortillas regularly with a recipe I love and usually use a rolling pin. I haven’t gotten them right with the press yet, but the press functions well and as intended. It’s sturdy and definitely something that will last a long time

Hello! To ensure that there isn’t any tortilla “stickage”, Verve recommends using a layer of parchment paper or waxed paper on the top and bottom of the press. No need for plastic, here!
