Organic Wool
Organic wool presents less harm than conventional wool production, as both the feed and forage for the sheep must be organic, and no pesticides or insecticides can be used to treat the sheep. Organic wool can be harvested yearly without harming the sheep, and does not involve toxic “sheep dips” where farmers drench the sheep in harmful chemicals. Organically raised sheep are housed in ways that prevent overgrazing, and are not dependent on antibiotics or other drugs, as they live in healthy conditions. Wool is highly absorbent, so it requires little water to dye the finished fabrics. Wool is odor resistant, so you can get away with skipping washes (and saving water!), plus when wool is untreated it’s biodegradable.

I have been wanting to try these for a while and finally bought them. So far I am pleased with the results. Drying time seems to be reduced and most clothes come out static free. However fleece items have some static issues. I am still glad I bought them!

Decided on these to reduce drying time and energy use. I’ve noticed mild results, nothing crazy, but it does help with larger loads to avoid tangling and random humid patches after the cycle is over.

I really like the idea of this product, but the balls do have a strong smell to them. I have read that you can add essential oils to them, but I have not yet tried that. Overall I am happy with them, and hopefully the essential oils work!

I absolutely LOVE using the balls. I have noticed a slight odor but it goes away if you put essential oil on the dryer balls. Ultimately the benefits outweigh this one negative and I am so glad I switched!

These dryer balls arrived with a strong, sweet, candy-like odor that is pretty offensive. Fortunately, they do not seem to transfer that odor to laundry, and after a few uses, the odor is finally going away. Other than that, they perform like other wool dryer balls I have tried in the past.

I love using these things! I wish I had known about them years ago. Depending on load size and type of clothing, they reduce drying time anywhere from 25 to 50% and leave my clothes feeling soft. I haven’t really noticed a reduction in static cling though, which is unfortunate, but it’s only a problem for a handful of my garments. I’ve used these about 30 times and they still look like they did when I first got them. Supposedly I have ~970 more uses out of them. After that, they will be much welcomed in my compost bin.

My towels used to take 2 hours to dry, but with all 6 balls in the dryer with them it only takes an hour. Cut my laundry time tremendously. I haven’t scented them yet, but I’m excited to. I’m trying to get my mom into it. They didn’t fuzz when I used them, so that was nice too!
