Cruelty Free
Cruelty Free is a certification process through PETA that labels products that are not tested on animals. All companies that are included on PETA’s cruelty-free list have signed a statement verifying that they don’t use ingredients or create finished products that help conduct or pay for any tests on animals.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.
Wool
Wool is a natural and renewable resource that can be harvested annually from sheep. Sheep are relatively low impact animals, but can overgraze land if not raised properly. Wool production can also be insecticide and water intensive, but the finished yarn is absorbent and requires little dye during processing. Untreated wool is biodegradable.

Fact: your dryer sheets might be ruining your clothes. While they're known for preventing static, they work by applying a coating of chemical fabric softeners to your clothes when the dryer is hot. The coating then bakes into the fabric, clogging the fibers of your clothes, and harming your health (and the health of the planet!) Eco Nuts does drying differently with their Dryer Balls: using the power of wool to naturally soften, fluff, and de-static your clothing! They work by lifting and separaRead More

I never used to use dryer sheets but I love using these wool balls. They cut dry time and static which is especially helpful having to pay to do laundry at the laundromat.

These dryer balls are absolutely incredible! I typically use 1 dryer sheet per load of laundry, but I was becoming very frustrated that the clothes/bedding were still full of static and taking multiple cycles to dry completely. I could already tell a huge difference with the first use. The clothes are so soft and completely dry after only one cycle. I highly recommend.

I’m so happy to no longer be using dryer sheets. I don’t see any static on my clothes so that certainly works! I can’t speak for drying faster though because I try to take out my clothes a lit damp and line dry them

They work well, the only reason why I did 4 of 5 stars is because my sheets roll up into a ball when drying

I tried dryer balls in the past and they did not do a good job at reducing static cling. I thought I would try again with a new brand, but my clothes still come out with static cling. I really wish they would work, as I hate using dryer sheets.

Hi, Sarah! We are so bummed to hear you’re not having luck with these dryer balls. We have a few ideas if you don’t want to go back to dryer sheets and want to keep troubleshooting: Because these dryer balls reduce drying time by preventing laundry from clumping up (something dryer sheets don’t do), you might find that you’ll need to dry for shorter amounts of time- over-drying items could make anything staticy! We also recommend using all four dryer balls at once for maximum benefits 🙂 If you’re still not having luck, feel free to reach out via live chat or at hello@earthhero.com and we’re happy to help more!

Question
z (verified owner) –
would these cause more microfibers to come off of your clothes
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
EarthHero (verified owner) –
Hi, Zach! These wool dryer balls will not cause more microfibers to come off of your clothes. They are gentle and rounded, so they’ll just aid in bouncing around your clothes, speeding up your drying time, and using less energy! Additionally, all fibers that come off of the balls are wool, a natural material, so it will biodegrade 🙂

I had bought some dryer balls from amazon less than a year ago and they were falling apart and left my laundry with so much static. So then I bought these wool balls and I am so impressed they are so soft and there is not static and my clothes are so soft.

How long do these last?

EarthHero –
Hello! These wool dryer balls should last for years and years! You’ll know when it’s time to replace them once they begin to unravel and lose some of their fibers. 🙂

Such a great product and alternative to those plastic dryer balls and dryer sheets! We used to use the plastic balls and they would usually crack after sometime, like, less than 3 mos! We’ve been using these wool balls for almost 6 mos and i noticed that it did cut down our drying time, clothes are seldom static now, and i can use whatever essential oil i feel like using.

I love these. Somehow it’s much more satisfying to throw these in the dryer than dryer sheets ever were, and they’re much quieter than the silicone ones I have. Highly recommend! Just use essential oil if you need that extra fragrance. I don’t add anything and my clothes still came out smelling fresh.

Question
Penny –
How may loads do these balls last on an average. And, how do know when to replace them?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Admin Ellie Mersereau –
Great questions, Penny! The wool dryer balls should last for over 1,000 loads (that’s anywhere from 2-5years!). Recharge them by tossing them in the washing machine and washing on hot. You’ll know it’s time to retire your dryer balls when they get a bit scraggly and start to pull apart.
