A sustainable laundry experience that's nuts (literally!) Eco Nuts Soap Nuts are actually dried berries from trees in the Himalayas, that when agitated in water, release a natural cleansing agent called saponin–which also acts as a fabric softener. USDA Certified and completely free of chemicals or additives, this natural laundry detergent is great for sensitive skin, but still leaves clothes fresh and clean. To use: simply place 4-5 soap nuts in the provided cloth bag and toss it in the washeRead Morer! Berries can be reused up to 10 times.

About the Company

Eco Nuts

Nothing feels better than fresh, clean laundry. But what if the products you’re using are actually dirty? Most conventional laundry detergents are hiding irritating ingredients masked by the cover-all word, “fragrance”. Likewise, while dryer sheets can help clothes stay soft and fresh-smelling, they typically contain toxic chemicals, that cling to fabric and vent into the air we breathe. Plus, being single-use is hardly a green choice!
Eco Nuts laundry products are revolutionizing the way we think about laundry. They are dedicated to creating products with high quality ingredients that are effective, eco-friendly, and ethically-sourced. There are no harsh odors, harmful chemicals, or fake fillers, so you can rest assured that the articles closest to your body are truly clean and safe. This also means there are no destructive ingredients washing down the drain either. Plus, their packaging is thoughtfully made with sustainable, easy-to-recycle materials, like cardboard and aluminum. No plastic!

Check out their wild-grown, Certified Organic soap berries for a gentle and safe alternative to conventional detergent. Their Dryer Balls are made from cruelty-free New Zealand wool and provide a non-toxic, sustainable solution to harmful dryer sheets, softening clothing, lowering static, and reducing drying time!

so the box came we opened the box it kinda had a strange smell my dad already really didnt like the idea of switching to this type of detergent my mom was much more open but still was skeptical but her first load with it she was extremely impressed with how well the clothes came out i cant say much for stains as we arent a family who stains clothes easily but since my dad wanted his clothes to smell like they were washed my mom did use some of those fabric softener pellet things im forgetting the name apologies we had for a while and it was still very pleasant i personally really like it and will probably keep buying even if im the only one using it

Used once so far, and works fine. Internet offers conflicting instructions on how many nuts to use & how long they will last, so this probably won’t actually last 100 loads. Of course, I’ll update this review if the nuts in fact do last me about 100 loads.

Works good enough for most things

    kajalpatelbelow (verified owner)

It does seem magical to wash your clothes with what appears not to be detergent and they come out not stinking. But it works. They’re not great for really dirty things (stains), but you can keep some back up detergent for that. For the plastic saved, this is worth it and seems cost effective too.

Pretty good, no stain lifting power though

    samicat13 (verified owner)

I used this for a load of laundry in warm water and I gave my clothes a good sniff and they all smelled clean after the wash and the dryer.
I also used them to wash a dirty bathroom mat and some kitchen rags. The mat came out fluffy and soft and clean and smelled fine, but the more set in stains did not come out. Same with the rags. These were done with warm water.
I think these work fine but I think other products are needed for extra power if you’re dealing with set in stains. I’m happy with the product although I also am hesitant about getting stuff shipped from Nepal to the US. That being said, they’re such a light product I don’t think they have a huge carbon footprint. While I doubt it would be sustainable if the whole world switched to soapberries, I think in conjunction with other eco friendly alternative to laundry, they’re pretty excellent.

Great product, but not for me

These are great detergent and fabric softener ! My friend loves them ! But I always end up throwing them inthe dryer and can’t be bothered to pick them out of my laundry. So I’ll be trying something else.

I love the concept of these and they work really well. The only downside is they do have a bit of a smell when washed but it is not that bad so other than that its great.

Soap nuts clean well but flimsy cloth bag

    vylept (verified owner)

The soap nuts work well in my washes and there’s no artificial perfume/smell on my clothes once done. The clothes, I feel, do come out softer than when I used Tide pod before. However, the cloth bag is kinda flimsy even after just the first wash that threads become loose. I suppose it may disintegrate quickly after many washes but hopefully if I try to stitch it up, it will reinforce the seams.

    Last a long time!

    scottandrews1974 (verified owner)

I bought the large box, 360 loads, back in June and have about 1/3 of the box left I think. Odds are very good I get them again. Pro-tip: I keep a dry erase marker with a magnet on the lid on the washer so I can mark each time I use a load of 4-5 nuts and keep track of my use. I used to not remember how many times I used them and probably got rid of them too early at times.
