Cruelty Free

All companies that are included on PETA’s cruelty-free list have signed a statement verifying that they don’t use ingredients or create finished products that help conduct or pay for any tests on animals.
Paraben Free
Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.
Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

I have a house full of active kids, pets and a significant other that works out doors. We have a lot of very dirty laundry and I was hesitant that this would work. However, I’m halfway through my box and I can’t see any difference from using tide pods. I love that they are better for the environment, safer for my family and actually work.

I made a DIY laundry soap and it left my clothes pretty dingy. Never doing that again. Using these now after reading reviews and watching a few reviews on YouTube. I appreciate that the scent isn’t very strong. I’ve become sensitive to scents as I’ve gotten older. So it’s nice to still smell good but not overwhelming.

I usually just use one, my partner likes to put 2 pods in the laundry. Clothes come out clean, I’m just happy to stop having to buy the plastic detergent bottles.

I like the liquid pods but I do have to use two for each full load of laundry. One pod just doesn’t clean what our family dishes out each week. Has nice clean scent and even the sensitive skin family members like the new detergent.

I typically use Soap Nuts but found their power lacking when throwing in a load of stinky athletic clothes. The dropps work great for that. They have excellent cleaning power and I like using them to wash my blankets because they smell nice too!

Question
marissa.meza –
Do the box of pods come with a cold water washing pouch?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
EarthHero (verified owner) –
Hi Marissa! These specific pods do not come with a cold water washing pouch. We’ve found that the powdered pods need the help of the pouch to dissolve, but the liquid pods are okay in cold water 🙂

These detergent pods are amazing! My clothes feel clean after washing them without unnecessary chemicals. I normally use 2 for large loads and they work great!

We bought these because my partner missed the stronger scents from more wasteful detergents and we love it! Our clothes smell super nice, even after they come out of the dryer – but it’s not too overwhelming. We have noticed a couple of times that her clothes come out with a little stain (it looks like it might be from the detergent) but we’re going to try and rectify this by starting the wash and throwing the pod in before putting our clothes in. Otherwise we love it, and the smell is amazing

I initially purchased the Dropps sensitive skin detergent pods because I feared irritation from these based on a few reviews. I am happy to report that after trying these pods as well, there was no irritation whatsoever! While I love the sensitive skin detergent pods, my family will be transitioning to these guys since they work so well on odor and stains. Very pleased with this plastic-free zero-waste alternative. We are going on six months of plastic-free laundry products.

These work great when I’m doing a warm or hot load of laundry (more often in the pandemic now), but I find there’s some residue stuck to some of my delicate garments or the pod doesn’t totally break down in cold water loads. I love this as a zero-waste option made in the USA (and my home state, at that!) but will likely have to continue my search for my cold/delicate loads because otherwise I end up having to wash some dresses twice.

I’ve been eyeing these pods for a while, deciding when to make the switch. I finally decided to make the switch and it works! I work outside and get my clothes pretty dirty but didn’t notice any problems. They do say to use a certain bag for the pod if using cold water, so I’ll have to see about that. But I’m glad I made a better switch in detergent with the convenience of pods.

Has anyone tried these with cloth diapers? Are they strong enough to properly clean them? If not, what sustainable options do?

I’ve bought Dropps before finding Earth Hero, and I’ll continue to buy them now. They’re great, a reasonable price, and I don’t have to worry about whatever excess chemicals are being used. The scents aren’t incredibly strong and they fade fast, but I don’t really mind if my clothes don’t constantly smell of lavender. So long as they’re clean.

I love these! My clothes come out nice and clean every time. On my clothes that get particularly stained/dirty (field work, intense yard work, etc.) I pop in two pods in per load and it gets the job done just right.

These work great, I love that they come in a little cardboard box. They acutually are as potent as they advertise! My clothes always smell and feel fresh and clean. I very rarely feel the need to put more than one little pod in there. Only when I really big loads at the laundromat.

Works great for my day to day clothes, but it doesn’t seem like Dropps are cut out for heavy duty jobs. I do occasional field work that leaves my work clothes muddy, sweaty, and smelly. It took two washes & twice the amount of recommended pods to get the stains and odor out. One Gain pod would’ve done the job in one wash, but I guess that’s only downside from making the switch to a more a sustainable option.

I’d been using liquid detergent for many years and switched to powder a couple of years ago to get rid of the plastic jugs. But now I may be hooked on Dropps! These pods are just so easy! We don’t absolutely love the fresh scent but probably because we’re not used to any scent at all.

quality ingredients, thoughtfully made–i’ve used other zero waste detergents in the past and have had issues with them dissolving properly in my machine. this is liquid concentrate on the inside with a lovely, though subtle scent–and works perfectly! new go-to, so grateful.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with my first time ditching the plastic Tide bottle that I’ve become so accustomed to using, but I am completely sold on the Dropps brand. I love that I’m using an eco-friendly brand that is plastic free. I’ve been using two packets for supersized loads and one packet for smaller loads. The detergent doesn’t have a strong scent like mainstream brands, but I’m good with knowing it’s environmentally friendly. I will be buying this product for years to come.

Tried these when one of my fave YouTubers mentioned it on a video. Decided to try them out and really love that there is no plastic in the product or its packaging. Have read reviews that they do not dissolve consistently but I have not had that problem…they dissolve every time. The scent is not overpowering and I must say my sensitive skin does seem to like this detergent better than all other brands I’ve tried. Definitely recommend!
