Sustainable Lifestyle

This product helps promote a more sustainable lifestyle. Whether it encourages re-use and the movement away from disposable products, or it promotes sustainable actions like recycling and composting, this product can help you lower your environmental footprint.

Recycled Plastic

Recycled plastic utilizes salvaged post-industrial plastic scraps and post-consumer products such as water bottles and other plastic containers, and transforms them into new products. The containers are sorted, crushed, and then heated to form resins, which are liquid plastics that can harden into new shapes. These resins can be molded and used to create anything from carpet to outdoor furniture. Recycling plastic lowers the amount of petroleum extracted and the production of greenhouse gasses associated with first-time plastic production. Plus, by using these existing materials, we’re benefiting from the original energy and resources spent to create them in the first place, while diverting waste from the landfill.

100% Recycled Content

Recycling is the process of taking an otherwise-discarded item or material and cleaning, sorting, and breaking it down into its basic form (such as fibers or pellets). This material is then used to produce new items. Recycling keeps useful materials from being discarded in landfills, prevents resource extraction due to the creation of new materials, and provides a new life for used items. Recycling can utilize both pre-consumer waste (materials left over from production) or post-consumer materials (used clothing, empty water bottles, etc). This product is made from 100% recycled content.

Did you know that every time you do your laundry, your synthetic clothes release hundreds of thousands of microfibers (tiny plastic and chemical coated fibers) that eventually end up in our waterways? It's even estimated that NYC alone has 6.8 BILLION microfibers flowing into its harbor each day. Cora Ball knew this problem had to be addressed at the source (us!) –- which inspired their easy-to-use laundry ball that catches the microfibers that naturally shed from clothes in the wash. Made froRead Morem 100% recycled plastic, and recyclable after you enjoy it for years, the Cora Ball works by trapping and securing threads in its "spindles" that can be easily cleaned as microfibers collect. Make an impact on ocean pollution with Cora Ball!

Product Care

  • To use, just toss it in your washer to start catching microfibers! Although Cora Ball is very gentle, we recommend washing delicates, fine fabrics, lace & tassels separately so they don't get caught in the Cora Ball.
  • How fast you will see fuzz in your Cora Ball depends on water temperature, type of clothes, lifestyle, detergent type, and washer mode!
  • To clean: when you can visibily see tangles of fibers & hairs, move the stalks of the Cora Ball to the side and pinch the tangles to pull them out easily. Dispose of fibers in your trash bin.

Additional Features

  • Micro-fiber catching laundry ball stops microplastics, threads, and pollution from entering our waterways
  • Made from 100% recycled materials and recyclable

About the Company

Cora Ball

Microplastics or microfibers are the teeny tiny particles that are polluting our waterways at a concerning rate. Surprisingly enough, these particles most often originate from your washing machine. Clothing that contains synthetic fibers such as nylon, polyester, rayon, acrylic, or spandex, are essentially plastic and shed particles each time we wash them! This microfiber pollution ends up being eaten by ocean animals and then, in turn, ends up on our plates. Cora Ball was founded by underwater archaeologist and marine scientist Rachel Miller and offers a human-scale solution to a global issue. Cora Ball is the first ever microfiber catching laundry ball. Inspired the way coral filters the ocean water from foreign particles, Cora Ball mimics that behaviour and catches all the bad microplastic particles from your clothing before they make it to the water. The ball works in any washing machine. You simply throw it in with your laundry and it will catch microfibers as well as hair to prevent them from flowing out with the drain water. Once the laundry is done, you clean Cora like you clean a hairbrush, taking out the bits of fuzz and putting them in the trash. The best part? The ball itself if made from 100% recycled plastic. So you can maximize your impact one laundry load at a time.

    Not practical

These are almost impossible to use for regular people’s laundry. I didn’t realize the limitations of their use before buying – almost every load of laundry for my home has strings or knits of some sort- pajama pants, scrubs, reusable laundry bags, work out clothes – all strings get caught in these and it’s impossible to separate loads appropriately if I wanted to use these balls. Worthless purchase in actuality although they did catch some lint and dog hair with first use.

I’ve been using a Cora Ball for 2 months now and I haven’t seen any microplastics. I don’t know if that’s because I’ve already washed my clothes so many times or the type of washer I use or what. A youtube I watch made a video and she had little flecks of plastic in hers. So maybe for some people, it works, but it doesn’t seem to work for me. But since I bought it (and it’s kind of expensive), I still use it in hopes of it catching something someday.

    It fell apart

    jg117910 (verified owner)

The top fell apart which allows all the other pieces to fall off too. I tried to fit it back together but it keeps getting worse. For how expensive it is I really wish it would have lasted more than a few months.

Ripped a hole in my mattress protector

    jscottdartlist (verified owner)

Old Review: I haven’t seen it catch anything other than two hairs, and it’s been in the wash for around 10 washes. It hasn’t destroyed any clothes, but I thought I would have seen things trapped in there by now.

Update: It has ripped a hole in my mattress protector 🙁 I really hoped that this would catch microfibers and hairs, but so far I’ve only seen like 5 hairs in it. I would recommend the GuppyFriend bag instead, with that one you can see the fibers collecting along the seams, and it doesn’t tear clothing.

The idea of the b-ball is better than the use. I’ve used this ball for months and mostly find hair and clothes straps in it.
If you’re VI and have to feel B through the b-ball too clean it , don’t get this because the tentacles hurt.

Also I’ve asked someone else to look at it and they see nothing caught in the ball. So does it even work ?

I’m not a fan of this product. After months and months of use, I only ever see it collect strings and pet fur. I do like that it does that because it saves me from using a lint roller after hang drying, but it’s not why I purchased it. I’ve seen other products that seem to work better than this. I was hopeful, but disappointed. I’ll likely keep using it because I don’t take it out of my washing machine.

It doesn’t seem to work or at least we’re not seeing a significant, or even insignificant amount of fibers, threads or material trapped in the ball. I wish that it did and we keep using it since we have it.

    Not seeing any effect

Since I live with a German Shepherd, I had high hopes about capturing dog hair as well as microfibers. I have only used it twice so far and am not seeing anything caught. I will keep experimenting. Since it says not to use with delicate fabrics, I have not tried it with sweaters or other hair magnets.
