About the Company

Brush with Bamboo

Every single plastic toothbrush, since production first began in the 1930’s, still exists in a landfill or ocean today (that’s over 4.7 billion brushes!) Shocked? So was the Kumar family, founders of Brush with Bamboo. They decided to take matters into their own hands and create a toothbrush that composts in nature, instead of polluting it!

Their signature toothbrush, made from sustainably grown 100% Certified Organic Wild Moso bamboo, features plant-based bio-bristles from Castor Bean oil and compostable packaging derived from vegetable cellophane. The brush handle is commercially compostable, as is their bamboo straws, so only the bristles end up in the trash. Plus all their products are vegan, cruelty-free, BPA-free, and without toxins. How could it get better than that?

The days of your toothbrushes living longer than you do are in the past. With Brush with Bamboo, you are saying no to plastic pollution and yes to sustainable solutions! Together, we can keep our teeth clean and the environment even cleaner by switching over to eco-friendly alternatives like Brush with Bamboo.

Smelly at first. Kept using and now just has the sent of our soap we use. Works well. They expand and soften (I was a bit worried at first). They work with cleaning and washing yourself. Will not being buying a plastic loofah ever again

These are exactly what I was looking for when trying to replace my plastic loofah with something natural and sustainable. I haven’t noticed any smell and it’s great every time! I couldn’t be happier with these!

    Smells bad

I was very excited to try these sponges, but now that I have, I would not purchase them again. While they are easy to use, expand and soften considerably with water, and scrub well, unfortunately they smell very badly. My fiance lovingly told me it smells like very very old people. I’m not sure how I will end up using these sponges because of the smell. I will likely use them with baking soda paste to clean the showers and sinks and stuff like that.

They do smell super funky but after a few lathers the smell is gone and I am using this on a daily basis for my shower loofah!

For your information, I use this sponge for dishwashing with a lime scented dish soap, so I haven’t had an issue with its smell.

Hey Rebecca — so sorry to hear that these aren’t smelling great! If using them for cleaning (bathroom or kitchen), we recommend composting after 3-5 weeks. We’d love to know more though, so our Customer Care Team will be reaching out soon. 🙂
