BPI Certified Compostable

This product contains material that has been third-party certified to meet ASTM Standards D6400 (for Compostable Plastics) or ASTM D6868 (for Compostable Packaging). These products break down in industrial composting facilities, and turn into usable soil. Appropriate facilities may not exist in your area.

Compostable

This product contains material that can break down into soil in either a backyard or industrial composting system. These products are declared compostable by the manufacturer, but may not third-party certified. Contact your local waste-hauler or composting facility to determine where these materials may be accepted. Certain materials may be better fit for industrial facilities than backyard composting systems. Industrial facilities may not exist in your area.

Sustainable Lifestyle

This product helps promote a more sustainable lifestyle. Whether it encourages re-use and the movement away from disposable products, or it promotes sustainable actions like recycling and composting, this product can help you lower your environmental footprint.

No GMO

This product is made without the use of Genetically Modified Organisms. The process of using GMO’s involves manipulating the DNA of plants, animals, and other organisms to produce benefits such as an ability to tolerate herbicides or produce their own pesticides. GMO’s have been deemed as unsafe by many developed nations.

Plant Based Resin

Plant Based Resins are used as an alternative to fully-synthetic plastics. Instead of using Petroleum as the main base ingredient to form plastic, some companies have started replacing a portion of the ingredients with plant and vegetable extracts. This lowers the amount of resources extracted to create purely synthetic products, and often provides a use for agricultural byproducts such as corn or flax. Some plant based resins are made from 100% plant materials, and can be composted in industrial facilities. EarthHero recommends checking with your local compost facility to determine which items are safe to compost.

About the Company

BioBag

Did you know that when organic waste is left in plastic inside the landfill, it’s unable to decompose properly and generates methane, a greenhouse gas 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide? Even worse, hundreds of years later, when the plastic-bag around your organic waste does break down, it leaves behind tons of nasty microplastics, further polluting our waterways and ecosystems. Make the switch from trashy plastic bags to a compostable alternative with BioBag!

Made from GMO-Free crops, each BioBag product helps you reduce your use of single use, disposable plastics. From pet waste bags, to food storage solutions, to countertop compost bags, BioBag has a (compostable) solution.

    Good bags but...

I’ve been using these bags to pick up after one small dog and I’ve realized this is going to take me forever to go through the whole box! I’ve had them for 4 months and haven’t gone through one bundle of bags yet ( this wouldn’t be a problem if they didn’t have a “best by” date). Also I agree with other reviews that they are not rolled and that is a minor inconvenience. I just use these for picking up the back yard though, so I just stuck a couple of reusable hooks on the side of the closet and hung them up (they have pre cut holes in them to hang).

    Not pre-rolled!

Should have read the other reviews first, where I’d have noticed at least one other reviewer mention these are not pre-rolled! It’s an inconvenience to have to find a way to fold/roll these myself. They come in flat stacks bundled together with a perforated edge at the top. There’s also a hole at the top of the bag I have been using to hang one “stack” at a time on the coat hooks near my front door, but could get messy in pickup if you’re not careful. They’re still economical and I imagine better for the planet than the repurposed plastic grocery bags I had to use when I was out of my usual rolls. Depending on what other options are available to me, may or may not repurchase, but it’s not definite “yes would rebuy” so I’m docking a star.

Love the composting, needed it to be bigger

    jeturner89 (verified owner)

I do love the material: it’s surprisingly sturdy. Having had bags prone to seam splits before, this stuff is great. However, I did find they were just a tad small for many of my dog’s messes compared to the standard I buy elsewhere, and unfortunately that little cut-out for closing the bag wasn’t very useful in those circumstances – the poop would smear while I turned the bag inside out, and pulling one side through that cut out could leave some of the messy inside exposed. This is more of a warning to those who prefer to close this way, since, as I choose to knot the top, it was usually fine for me. And I have to admit that the cut out makes the bag easier to open initially, as the sides don’t stick as much.

Overall I don’t think I’ll order this bag again as I’ve found comparably priced compostable pet waste bags that better suite my dog’s size, but this is a personal compatibility factor. Otherwise I found the product to be pretty well made, and I do love a compostable alternative.

Oh, one other thing – I know saying “bulk” may seem like an obvious way of indicating that these bags are not pre-rolled, but I truly wasn’t sure since I’ve seen it applied to large boxes, and didn’t see anything in the comments when I ordered these months back. Maybe consider specifying? Having to roll a batch of these weekly is another reason I likely won’t order again; I’ve found it just a little too time consuming. If I could order this many of your bags pre-rolled and in a slightly larger size, I would ABSOLUTELY consider buying again.
