Cruelty Free

Cruelty Free is a certification process through PETA that labels products that are not tested on animals. All companies that are included on PETA’s cruelty-free list have signed a statement verifying that they don’t use ingredients or create finished products that help conduct or pay for any tests on animals.

Paraben Free

Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.

Sulfate Free

Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

Handmade

We support small businesses and craftspeople who create each of their products with care. Handmade products are generally produced on a small scale, without the use of large energy consuming factories and production facilities. Buying handmade helps support art, communities, and people’s livelihoods.

    Versatile washcloth

Great wash cloth that is not too hard or too soft. I’ve got to be careful not to mix up my kitchen one with the bathroom one I can exfoliate with. Great cloth

    Moldy after 1 month

    yonaira.rivera (verified owner)

Sadly, after one month of daily use, I had to toss because it grew mold and didn’t smell well. Was hanging to dry after every use, but that didn’t work.

Hello! Thank you so much for this feedback. While not the best, this is somewhat expected for a cloth that is made out of biodegradable sisal fiber. While a fantastic and reusable option, this cloth should be washed a few times a week in order to discourage the growth of mold and any negative scents! You’ll know when it’s time to compost the cloth when it starts to smell, is no longer exfoliating, or grows mold (nature, we love her!). This is an excellent, mild detergent for washing items such as this one. A wash here and there should help extend its life. 🙂

Hi there, great question 🙂 These washcloths are multi-use and great for exfoliating, thanks to their 100% compostable sisal fibers! Lighter pressure is suggested at first if you’re using this washcloth on your face!

How long does this last? Does it need to be changed out every few months or can you just put in the laundry with other towels?

Hi there! These sisal washcloths are extremely durable and long-lasting. They’re also able to be machine washed and dried, too! As with a cotton washcloth, you’ll know when it’s time to toss it in the compost. Sisal fibers offer excellent exfoliation and a good indicator as to when to give it up is when it becomes more soft than scrubby. 🙂

Love it! Wish it came in different sizes.

I’ve been looking for something to wash dishes with that was compostable. This works great! I tried organic cotton sponges but they were too soft and fell apart in a few weeks. This one is sturdy, and you can actually scrub the dishes. I wish it was about half the size so it’s easier to handle.

Hi there! What a great way to use this washcloth! We think you may really like these compostable scrubbers, too. A little smaller and easier to handle. 🙂

If using this for cleaning pots/pans/dishes, does it scratch nonstick surfaces?

Hi Elizabeth! You could absolutely use this washcloth for pots and pans, but it is more intended to be an exfoliating shower accessory. In fact, it may be too gentle on pots and pans to be deemed truly effective for that purpose. Instead, check out these compostable loofahs. They’re also great in the shower but can easily double as scrubber pads or sponges!

    Stout and Strong

Definitely a product worth buying. It scrubs great on dishes, on your skin. Lovely for whether or not you want it for getting rid of dead skin or scrubbing those pots and pans, For a mere 5 bucks its definitely worth the price and makes for great affordable stocking stuffers and gift baskets.

    Hemp Always

    megbrynne (verified owner)

this is a great product. dries easily if you hand in your shower. color is natural brown-ish so no product or dirt stains visible. easy to wash.
ps. i would go with the washcloth if you’re torn between the glove cloth bc this is easier to use bc the glove is slightly small and you dont have to put this on your hand.
the hemp knit btw is great for exfoliating legs and back. perfect for sloughing off dead skin and smoothing out in-growns etc.
also my boyfriend loves using this product and this is a person that has always hated loofahs.
never using the plastic loofahs again!
