Cruelty Free

Cruelty Free is a certification process through PETA that labels products that are not tested on animals. All companies that are included on PETA’s cruelty-free list have signed a statement verifying that they don’t use ingredients or create finished products that help conduct or pay for any tests on animals.

Paraben Free

Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.

Sulfate Free

Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

Handmade

We support small businesses and craftspeople who create each of their products with care. Handmade products are generally produced on a small scale, without the use of large energy consuming factories and production facilities. Buying handmade helps support art, communities, and people’s livelihoods.

Sustainable Manufacturing

Recycled Packaging

This product is packaged or shipped in materials that contain recycled content.

    Not 100% compostable

I’ve had a similar soap saver bag before that I liked. However, I didn’t read the reviews or look very closely at the picture. “Materials” says “100% Sisal Fiber,” which is not actually true. There is a string (probably polyester) and a plastic bead for adjustment. My other bag is completely plastic free and completely compostable at end of life, I wish I had purchased that one (I believe it was on another site). Clearly I should have red the other reviews first and looked closer at the picture, but I would like the sustainability features to accurately present the product by saying “mostly sisal fiber” instead. I’m a fan of the concept and EarthHero, but I’m disappointed with this item. I’m sure it will function just as well as I need, but I purchased it with the intention that it was a 100% compostable item.

The perfect container for a shampoo bar or soap. I got this for myself when moving into the dorms to have something that keeps bacteria out and allow the soap bar to dry. The price is right and the material (made from plants!) is JUST right. I couldn’t recommend this product more.

This is the second sisal soap bag I bought! I had to wait a while until it was in stock again but it was worth it lol I love how it exfoliates. I hang dry it and it doesn’t smell or anything. My husband tried it and fell in love so I bought this second one for him since we use different soap.

    Pros and cons

    LauraEmily (verified owner)

I like the size. I like exfoliating while I wash with soap. I like the material the bag is made of for being eco friendly and helping to get rid of single use plastic. I wish I’d had my reading glasses on when i ordered for it had a plastic bead, which could have been a bamboo bead instead, and a synthetic cord which will have to be cut out of at it’s end life. I’ve seen other bags that don’t use synthetic draw strings and use no bead or wooden/bamboo beads.

I am very happy with this sisal soap bag. I feel so much better scrubbed after my shower than I did before. This bag is very well made and dries well just hanging in the shower stall.

Good way to save soap pieces

    orangecappy (verified owner)

I had a lot of random soap bars lying around and this was a great way to consolidate them. However I wish it were a little more rough so I could really use it to scrub off all that dead skin. And, others commented on it not sudsing up easily. I found that if I squeeze it so that the liquefied parts of the soap bars come out, then I can get it to suds up.

    Nice Exfoliator, Not Much Sudsing

    horse_lover13648 (verified owner)

I was looking for a more eco-friendly loofah than the poofy plastic ones I’ve always had. I love that this one is made of sisal fiber and can be composted when it’s done. So cool! I’ve used it as a hand mitt with body wash and I tried it with a full bar of soap. I love the way it feels scrubby and exfoliates without scratching. However, it doesn’t suds up much and it feels like the soap disappears quickly. If you have a bar of soap in it, that won’t be much of a problem, but sometimes I like a really sudsy soap for shaving. Either way, it does the job good enough.

    good idea and it works

I thought this would be great for little soap scraps. It works so well, I’m buying one for my main soap bar in the shower. It exfoliates without scraping skin. Love it!

This lathers extremely well. It is also gentle on the skin, while still exfoliating. However, it takes a while to dry.

    Works great!

    Julia (verified owner)

This soap saver works great, exactly what you’d expect. And it isn’t unraveling! I bought a rattan body exfoliator before that started unraveling after a few uses.
Mine is staining yellow from my soaps, which is too bad, but not a huge deal since it’s living in my shower.

    Clean and exfoliated.

    prettypinklion (verified owner)

I really like this soap saving bag. I’ve been holding onto an old plastic loofah and i hate looking at it. Probably going to repurpose it into a weird costume to avoid landfill. Buuut this is so much better than a loofah. It suds up very well and isn’t too rough on the skin. When first feeling it the material was course but once wet it softens up (: i love it!

    Perfect product...

    Cal (verified owner)

I have switched back to bar soap instead of ocean destroying plastic bottles. This bag accepts alot of shaped soap. Drop the bar in and lather up. When the bar gets small simply add a fresh bar to it. No slimy residue as it hangs to dry. Great product. Works with shampoo bars also.

Terrific product. Great for exfoliating and really making use of those last slivers of soap that might otherwise just make the shower floor slippery or clog the drain.
