As a member of the grass family, bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth. It requires no irrigation, pesticides or fertilizers to grow, and can be harvested within 3-5 years, as compared to approximately 30+ years for traditional hardwoods. Bamboo is extremely adaptable and produces more oxygen per acre than large tree species, while using a fraction of the water to grow. Its durable and lightweight qualities make bamboo a great alternative for hard wood products!

We support small businesses and craftspeople who create each of their products with care. Handmade products are generally produced on a small scale, without the use of large energy consuming factories and production facilities. Buying handmade helps support art, communities, and people's livelihoods.

How long does it take you to finish a plate of delicious sushi? Is it 20 minutes, is it an hour? Well, that pair of chopsticks in your hands took a lot longer to grow, harvest, and shape than just an hour! ChopValue is changing the way we think about discarded materials, specifically chopsticks. No longer are they just transportation vessels for sushi and noodles, but instead, material that can be turned into something beautiful! Up your home's style with their collection of wall decorations and coasters, or bring their bamboo yoga block into your flow session. Going into their third year of operation, ChopValue is looking to expand their restaurant network across Vancouver and beyond, and continue to transform discarded chopsticks into works of art. Lets hope they don't get too sick of sushi!

Gift for Mom

I got this for my mom's birthday but really I got it for myself because whenever I face time her her iPad is always falling over and making me dizzy :). She loves it and has used it to watch shows and call her kids and others. She keeps a pretty skinny case on her iPad and that probably helps keep the angle that the iPad rests at correct. She thought that maybe without a case the little notch that the iPad rests in might be a little too wide to hold the iPad up at a comfortable angle. She was really happy to see the carbon neutral packaging in a gift shipped to her.
