Paraben Free
Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.
Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

creates a nice fine lather and works well with a safety razor, just don’t get the suds too close to sensitive parts while shaving. it didn’t feel very gentle.

The bar takes some work to lather up and works well once lathered. Other than that I am not completely sold on the idea that it is much different than a bar of soap. I have problems with irritation and I haven’t noticed it much with this but I also recently changed to a safety razor and shave less. I don’t notice much of a fragrance from the soap. Overall the soap is god quality and sourced naturally and if you are looking for a bar soap specifically for shaving then this is a good choice.

I have only ever used canned shaving cream but decided to try this bar. I was really surprised at how well it works. I honestly expected some irritation afterwards, because I get irritation even with regular shaving cream sometimes but there was none! I have used the bar 3X on both legs and under arms and I am sold. It takes a little bit to get the lather going but once you do it gives a close shave.

Having bought this product I will absolutely continue to use the bar I have purchased. It works as intended and is well scented, lightly but not overwhelmingly. However I probably would not purchase this again due to the fact that it just isn’t that different from a regular soap bar. If you are prone to sensitive skin then this is a bit better and if you are willing to spend quite a bit extra for very clean, eco-friendly packaging then go for it, it’s a good bar of soap; I just don’t personally feel that it’s worth $13 for what a regular bar of soap could do 80-90% as well.

I love this stuff. I’ve been trying for awhile now to find something eco friendly and that actually works. I’ve finally found that with this. It helps glide the razor without clogging it up like most shave soaps. Leaves my legs feeling silky smooth and not itchy!

This bar is awesome. Not slippery when I’m applying but definitely feel the difference when I shave. Love it

I tired another brand of a shaving bar and my skin was just irritated with it. I was about to give up hope until I tired this bar, no itch! I can help the planet and still get a close shave on my legs and under arms.
