Sustainably Harvested Rubber
Natural rubber is harvested by tapping the Havea tree and collecting the sap. Sustainably harvested rubber comes from forests that are carefully managed to avoid over-tapping, ensuring healthy rubber trees for the future. Some sustainable rubber tree management prohibits clear cutting to plant rubber plantations, and ensures the livelihoods of native peoples and local workers.

Low Impact Dyes
Companies can adopt multiple practices to dye their textiles and products in a more environmentally safe way. Low impact dyes usually do not contain toxins such as heavy metals, plasticizers, fluorocarbons, and formaldehyde. Sustainable dyes can also be water or plant based, or use less water than conventional dyeing methods.
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton production uses zero chemical pesticides and fertilizers, promoting a healthier use of land and decreasing harmful agricultural runoff. By steering clear of toxic chemicals, workers experience less exposure to hazardous conditions, promoting social responsibility as well as environmental stewardship. Plus, farming methods for organic cotton have been shown to use up to 20% less water than nonorganic production methods. Choosing organic cotton eliminates the use of insecticides and other harmful chemicals, promotes efficient resource use, and results in a safer products and a cleaner planet!

I expect this pack will last me years. I’ve had my pack for several months and only one has broken.

I have notoriously thick hair so I was worried about ordering a bunch of hairties without seeing them in real life. But they’re actually a little bit thicker than the average “thick” hair tie. They have great grip and definitely do the job.

These aren’t quite as stretchy as the standard tie (my hair is super slippery so I like to get it tiiiiight) but for being biodegradable, they’re totally worth it.

I have a lot of hair and these hair ties are amazing! I’ve been using the same one and putting my hair in ponytails and buns and they’ve barely stretched. Haven’t lost any yet thankfully, but I’m glad they’re biodegradable.

It’s comfortable and super strong. In the past hairbands would break so easily in a couple of weeks. I’m still on my first hair band and it’s been months!

These are super great for thick hair, a little tight on my wrist but so far so good!

No worries about the quality of these hair ties at all. They are stretchy, retain their shape, I even got them wet and dried them out multiple times and they’re like brand new.

These are my new favorite hair ties! I bought these thinking they were going to be like regular hair ties where they would be tight at first and stretch out as time went on, but from the first use they were the perfect tightness! No headaches, no pulling hairs out, just great quality hair ties to keep the hair off the back of my neck! I will repurchase these as stocking stuffers for family and friends for the holidays!

It is true, the product is very strong, very thick, and tight. Like most new hair bands when first using them it is at its tightest before loosening up. I have thin curly hair and don’t like anything tight to hold my hair up. If I had thinker hair this would be AMAZING! I still think its a great product and would consider buying it for others, but for me it is just to hard on my hair.

Way thicker and much more elastic than I thought they would be! I really like them and would love if they came in a thinner version as well.

These elastic bands are great. I suspect that it will take me a long time to use all of them due to the quality of each elastic.

Question
Jess –
Are these friendly to bury in soil to dispose of them?

EarthHero –
Hi Jess! We love how durable and long-lasting these hair ties are. If you find them unusable after years and years of use, these are biodegradable and if you are choosing to dispose of in a home compost or soil, we recommend cutting them into small pieces to expedite the breakdown!

This work really well in my thick straight hair and they are large enough I can keep a couple on my wrist comfortably!

I love these hair ties! They work great with my thin hair and equally as well for my partner’s grown out thicker hair. Also, a great price point for a small product with a thoughtful impact.

I love these hair ties so far! They stay in my fine, straight hair, and they stretch enough to be able to wrap three times to hold it in a bun. And they’re comfortable on my wrist too.

Question

Hi! The listing says these are made with organic cotton, but it’s unclear which organic certification is being used. Could you let us know? Thanks!

Question
lauren –
So everything is technically “biodegradable”. How long will these take to degrade?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
EarthHero –
Hi Lauren! The cotton on these ties will biodegrade in a few weeks- a few months, depending on the conditions! The natural rubber should fully biodegrade in roughly three years. In comparison, polyester and synthetic rubber (the materials used in standard hair ties) take roughly 500 years to break down and are never able to fully biodegrade! We love these as a much more eco-friendly alternative 🙂
