Recyclable

This product contains recyclable materials. It may be recyclable with curbside recycling collections, but might need to be sent to a special recycling facility. Contact your local waste-hauler or recycling facility for details. Appropriate facilities may not exist in your area.

Paraben Free

Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.

Sulfate Free

Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

Leaping Bunny

Great! It lathers a lot more than anticipated. It also is a little smaller bottles than I would like but I anticipate it will just encourage me to use less product

I really enjoyed the shampoo and conditioner set. I have been buying natural shampoo and conditioner for years now so my hair adapted well to this product but not my families. They all said it smelled great but they weren’t used to using natural shampoo or conditioner. It lasts a long time so great value. I will buy this product again!

    Curly Hair review

I have 2c/3a hair and this is the best low waste option I have found for hair care. I use two pumps of shampoo for a pre wash and rinse, then one additional pump to wash again which I have found necessary to remove the initial build up after a week between washes, and then leave my scalp feeling actually cleansed. I don’t think that is an absurd amount of product which was my main concern with this product since it is so expensive. I think it will last a long time. I use about 3 pumps of conditioner for my medium length, medium thickness hair. It takes quite a bit of time to detangle through and doesn’t give the most amazing slip ever, but it gives enough that I’m not breaking my hair. Definitely a lot better than any conditioner bar or concentrate that I have tried.

    Leaves hair less oily

I’m still a bit undecided on this product, but have been experimenting with the amount of time I can go between washes and washing methods. I believe this does not overly condition the hair and allows for those breaks between washes, since most of my hair remains unoily.

    Wish it was fragrance free!

    lilymmunoz07 (verified owner)

I have tried these shampoos in both fragrances and would actually prefer a fragrance free option. That is my only complaint. I prefer most of my products this way now. I love the stainless steel bottles.

    Does the job

    shaavazul (verified owner)

I have 3A/B curls and my hair is fairly thick, my partner has 2B fine curls. The shampoo seems to do a better cleansing job on finer hair with less texture, as with mine it feels like it’s a bit stripping–a bit too harsh. The conditioner though is lovely for both of us. It’s a thin consistency that makes it easy to work into my curls. At the same time it washes easily without making my hair feel heavy. I like the way it smells, it doesn’t linger in hair for long . Between my partner and I a set of these bottles lasts us about 2.5 months, depending on how long we let our hair get.

Good for the environment, but is it good for hair care?

    t0kuni3913 (verified owner)

I have tried several low/zero waste shampoo and conditioner options and this is the best I have found so far. Other options (that I have given a shot for over a month each) have left my hair limp and very greasy, and/or given me mad dandruff. No worries about that with this product. My hair feels relatively healthy and it always looks clean the day of the wash. No issues with dandruff either, and I don’t feel dried out. This is after a month of use.

Problem is, for $30 a bottle, every time I shower I think about how I could go to Sephora or Ulta and drop around $30 for a shampoo or conditioner that improves my hair health, smells amazing, and wows me every shower. Still giving it four stars because we are all shopping on Earth Hero for a reason. Those shampoos are awesome, but the plastic isn’t. I’ll keep searching for a good in between after this product, but I definitely think you should give this one a shot if you have been eying it!

Pricy and takes a lot of product for clean hair

    lndsea22 (verified owner)

I have long hair but it’s very fine. I feel like it takes a lot of product for it to cover my hair. Customer service was great when one of the pumps arrived broken.

have to use quite a bit for my thick hair

    madeline.mmhg (verified owner)

Love this bottle & the mission behind it so much! I’m so thankful I finally found a product (that’s not glass!) to put in my shower. I am anxious about how fast I’ll go through this product just because of how thick my hair is, I never feel like it fully covers my hair & that I always have to go in for another pump. The hair stuff I was using before was about $20 for both shampoo/conditioner, so just definitely a monetary adjustment for me. (Worth it for my health & the mission, though). It smells great too, which is a plus!

Good Shampoo and Conditioner for a Steep Price

    lauramnevill (verified owner)

Soapbox Argan Oil is my favorite shampoo. I don’t need conditioner with it, it is only $8, and they have an awesome mission donating soap to those in need; but I really wanted to go with something with no plastic. I tried nearly every shampoo bar on the market, but the all left my straight/normal-oily hair feeling dry or sticky. I was thrilled to see a non-shampoo bar low waste option on EarthHero. I was not thrilled to pay $60 for shampoo and conditioner. I do NEED the conditioner because this really strips my hair. The shampoo and conditioner combo is fine and my hair looks comparable to my old shampoo. I don’t love the scent (rosemary/mint/vanilla), just a bit odd for my liking – though it is not strong at all. I miss my old shampoo and still wonder if the plastic is worth it… I may try my local co-op to refill these bottles when I run out. I just don’t know if I can stomach $60 every few months for something that is “fine”.

    Very happy first timer!

    hannah.a.spicer (verified owner)

I chose the shampoo and conditioner as a low waste transition product to go from my plastic bottles to eventually a bar shampoo. However, I don’t think i’ll be doing the latter now! Before using this shampoo & conditioner , my hair was dull, my scalp was flaky, and I was upset by how much plastic packaging I went through with my shampoo and conditioner. The Plaine Products refillable vegan shampoo & conditioner set was an instant solution to both my hair and conscious woes. A little goes a long way too- one pump of shampoo lathers up my entire head of long hair. And one pump of conditioner coats its lengths. I am so wowed and recommend to all my friends and family now.
