Paraben Free
Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives, commonly used in beauty products like shampoo, lotion, and deodorants. Parabens can accumulate in your body, and have been linked to hormonal disruption and reproductive problems. In studies of breast cancer patients, parabens have been found in the tissue of cancerous tumors–yikes! If you want to avoid Parabens in your beauty products, keep an eye out for methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, and ethylparaben in the ingredients list.
Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

I chose this scent because it is one of my favorites but the smell is way too strong I couldn’t even use it. It smells like something a old lady would like. I had to throw it away. I couldn’t even use it so I can’t make any comments on how well it moisturizes.

Hi there, we’re so sorry to hear that this lotion bar scent was a bit stronger than anticipated! We love the use of essential oils in this bar but recognize even natural fragrances can be overpowering to some. Our care team will be in touch shortly to assist in finding another great option for you!

I’ve tried a lot of moisturizing bars over the years, and while I obviously love the sustainability of them, I still have not found one that can replace regular moisturizer. This one is no exception. It smells great, and the tin is very cute. I do find that it absorbs much quicker than other bars I’ve used, which is a definite plus. Traveling with it is a breeze, and I would honestly use them over any liquid without hesitation anytime I have to travel because it’s so convenient. My biggest issue is with how fast it gets used when you use it all over. I used it for a week on my body as soon as it arrived, and I only have 1/4 of it left. IMO, it should’ve lasted much longer. I have since downgraded to using it on my hands at work, and with all the extra washing we are doing, I’m finding it working well in this setting. It keeps my hands from cracking and drying, doesn’t leave much residue, and is easy to use on the hands.

I should have realized that this product isn’t for me because I really need something super hydrating that absorbs quickly, and that’s probably only going to come from a liquid product. This product is very waxy and sticky. Also, the scent is pleasing, but too strong for my tastes. Especially since I love to pet my cats, and I don’t think they like the strong scent either. I applaud the effort to have package free lotion, but it just didn’t work out for me.

I love these bars. I wish they lasted a bit longer, they seem to vanish so fast, but they work great on my dry, sensitive skin and aren’t greasy

Im not a huge fan of how waxy this bar is, and how sticky it is after applying. But it is super hydrating and lasts a long time, so I recognize that it could be useful for other people.

Question

After years of exposing my poor little hands to unnecessary and harmful chemicals, they’ve developed dermatitis. I am prescribed a cortisol cream to put on them and was recommended to use a fragrance-Free hand lotion like CeraVe ™️. Although it’s quite pricey and comes in plastic. Does this lotion ‘bar’ soothe dermatitis + the itchy, sting associated w/ it w/o causing irritation? Thanks 😀

Hi there! We’re so sorry your hands have endured that and are happy to help find a soothing, natural option. We’d recommend one of Moon Valley’s Salves for a thick and healing way to give your hands some relief!

The lotion smells great and I love the container it came in. I bought it for a friend but my mom loved it so much, she wanted me to buy another!

I have super sensitive skin and this does the trick. The high quality ingredients and crawfish make so a beautiful and lovely smelling lotion. It melts into your skin as you apply (body heat:)) and acts as a balm sort of consistency. Will definitely buy again!

I wanted to love this lotion bar and I do. There is a learning curve for switching to a solid beeswax lotion. It’s important to me to support bee farmers and purchase bee products to support the survival of our domesticated English bees. I was looking for something to apply immediately after a shower and this does the trick. It will crumble in a strong grip but that doesn’t really impede the use. The packaging has a lot of intrinsic beauty and thoughtful design that begs reuse. The tin I received has a white exterior and metallic interior with a white interior plastic ring. The lid and the lotion bar are embossed with the logo just as pictured. The bar codes and product size information are all on the paper box so the tin itself has a lovely minimalist quality, top and bottom. It came straight from moon valley organics with custom packaging tape in a medium large box – probably to help insulate the product from any heat while shipping. I love the lingering patchouli smell and will definitely reorder this product.

Love the container that holds the lotion bar. However, it is a bit tough to warm up/melt onto your skin/hands. The smell is nice; I’m sure if I can get it to spread easier, a little would go a long way.
