Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.

First and foremost, glass is the most difficult item to recycle in the United States. Aluminum is the easiest and best to recycle. If you can, get your hands on a toothpaste company that offers a recycling program if that is what you’re aiming for by purchasing these tablets.
My daughter and I gave these a go. I can not stress enough how terrible these are for your teeth; maybe not initially, but long term. We have been using them for about a year now. I’ve developed cavities that I did not previously have and the sensitivity associated with the use of these tablets is truly horrendous. By using these continually, and throughout my filling process, I have actually caused such tooth enamel erosion and sensitivity that a simple filling feels twenty times more painful than it ever should have and the lasting effects from the dental surgery are extremely uncomfortable, painful and shrilling.
At first, I thought it was just me. I could NOT figure out why on earth my teeth were killing me and never thought anything of the tablets. It wasn’t until my daughter told me how much some of her teeth began to hurt her that I realized these toothpaste tablets were the culprit.
I would STRONGLY urge anyone looking for a good toothpaste to reconsider this purchase and look into Risewell or Boka with Hydroxyapatite for re-mineralizing purposes.

Hi Kristina! Thank you for sharing your feedback. We love reusing this glass jar as a way to find a new life for it without recycling. However, we have a feeling you might really enjoy Davids’s toothpaste – a bit of a gentler taste and feel, packaged in a lovely aluminum tube for easy recycling. We always recommend any oral care change be discussed with your dentist first! This sounds like a truly terrible experience and we are so sorry that your teeth have gone through so much this past year. Thank you for your thorough and thoughtful review. We will be sharing your experience with Georganics to learn if they’ve ever heard of anything like this being a result of their product, and our customer care team will be in touch to learn more and help you find a better option for you.

I wish that I read the reviews before buying because I wanted a more sustainable toothpaste option but I was gagging the first time I used it and I am not looking forward to using it again tonight (but I don’t want to waste it so I am stuck with it for a while). Its a terrible taste and my tongue was burning. It feels like I had pure baking soda or something of that nature in my mouth. I’m so disappointed. I gave it two stars because I do love that it comes in a glass bottle and it’s more sustainable and natural, but I will be trying a different brand of plastic-free toothpaste next time.

The Georganics tooth tablets English peppermint reminds me of moth balls. The worse tablet paste I’ve tried. I can’t stand the way they fizzle in my mouth. They have a strong baking soda flavor also. They get super watery and feels like I’m brushing my teeth with just spit they don’t clean very well either. I have to brush longer then 2 minutes. 8-(

I am almost through my first jar. The taste is admittedly kinda salty and weird, but I like that I feel like I can drink my coffee or orange juice after without a worry. I also took some of this backpacking because of the light weight of them and it worked great! I will be repurchasing but maybe trying another flavour!

Works well, but takes getting used to. I have also tried their tooth powder and I cannot decide which I prefer. The tablets are not messy like the powder can be, and always gives a set amount to use each time. The flavor is okay (I have English peppermint). It is not very strong so do not expect a minty fresh feeling afterward. But it gets the job done and it is sustainable.

These are different from the other tooth paste tabs I’ve used because they fizz as soon as they touch your tongue which I finds help give the illusion of normal toothpaste a bit more than your standard crunchy tablet. I bought these for a number of friends who were also interested in trying them and so far they like them!

It has been difficult to get my partner on board with a low waist lifestyle. Changing up their products is not something he particularly likes. But he thoroughly enjoyed this toothpaste alternative. Which I was quite surprised by. I thought the fight, saltiness, and foaming would deter him. But it turns out he seems to very much enjoy it. The product does tend to have a salty baking soda taste or flavor. That is some thing that I had already gotten ask used to buy DIY and my own toothpaste off of a baking soda base. So the change was not a shock to us. Though it can be shocking to others. Give it a try and if you don’t like it see if you can make a trade through the BUNZ app.

The packaging and bottle are great and zero waste. The tablet is the right about to brush my teeth and feel clean after two minutes. The taste of the baking soda (that I assume comes with all tooth tablets) is a bit harsh at first and feels weird on your tongue if you’re not used to it, but using mouthwash after removed the taste. After a month or two of use, the you get used to the taste.

The reviews are accurate. The taste is not pleasant at first but I am getting used to it the more I continue to use it. Compare to other similar products on the market, I think this one has the most natural ingredients and is the more affordable one (per tablet) especially if you get the 720 refill. My teeth do look clean after I use it but sometimes it feels like I don’t have enough toothpaste (not a lot of foam i guess?) but I don’t know if that’s just because we’re used to toothpaste with chemicals that make it foam so much. If they come out with a more dense tablet (more foamy or more toothpaste packed in) i would switch to that one (just preference).

I really enjoyed this product. I was never a fan of the super harsh mint liquid mouthwashes. This is much gentler, yet it still feels effective. The orange flavor was pleasant as well. The only downside was that it did take a little bit of time for the tablet to dissolve in the water.

I initially tried returning it because a bunch of the tablets fell out of the box when it was shipped. I scooped them back in but couldn’t return it. I’ve tried a few other brands but i wouldn’t buy this one again.

The taste is a lot to get past! I agree with other reviewers, we need to have more alternatives to traditional toothpaste like this. Better for us, better for the environment! I will still plan to use these for travel although when they are out I do not think I will order more due to the taste. I read the reviews but I still wasn’t fully prepared for the taste. Like baking soda and no mint. I use these now as “in between brushings” but do not feel like they get my mouth clean feeling for “primary brushings.”

As consumers we NEED to create more demand for these plastic free packaging alternatives. The idea is so good and convenient, especially for traveling. I have tried Bite brand toothpaste bits before, which were great, but wanted to try this brand out since I believe it could be bought with fluoride. I don’t know if it was a bad batch, but I bought the 720 count, and instead of tasting pleasant and minty, it was very salty, with almost sizzling and burning sensations on the tongue. It made me question the safety? Perhaps just an overload of certain ingredients like baking soda and salt mineral, but with nothing pleasant to balance it. I just can’t use it, yuck! I tried contacting both GeoOrganics and Earth Hero via email, I know things get lost in the shuffle, but no response yet. If you are reading this contact me, I am willing to exchange all the unused 710+ pills to see if something was wrong with this batch and maybe try another flavor? I work hard for the money! Cheers!

As others have mentioned, this will not foam like typical toothpaste. Yet somehow it leaves my teeth feeling so clean after I’m done brushing! As soon as you put it in your mouth, there’s an effervescent effect (think Alka Seltzer). It’s shocking at first but now it’s really enjoyable. There’s no strong minty flavor that you may be used to. But I don’t mind that at all. I brush my teeth to get them clean, not so I can taste mint or any other flavor.
Would be great if they offered trial or sampler packs so I can try every flavor.

Works well, and surprisingly so for how little brushing formula the tabs seem to generate. The flavor (I tried orange) was an acquired taste, since the orange is lovely but you can definitely taste the active ingredients, too. But it’s not dessert; it’s toothpaste, and it did the trick in an eco-friendly way. With the refills, it would become cost-effective as well. I’d have skipped straight to the refills w/o the original bottle, but I didn’t want a ton of them in case I didn’t like either the tabs or the flavor. I may buy again, but I think I do slightly prefer the paste.

Not very sudsy. I like the product and will use it after having a snack or lunch, but it feels more like a secondary ingredient to my saliva rather than it being the main ingredient in my mouth. I also hope that in the future a fluoride option is available for those who want to occasionally include fluoride in their brushing.

I don’t feel like they freshen my breath, but I have to say that I have never had a cleaner tongue in my life! Unfortunately I won’t be purchasing these again. First off, I just want to say that I’ve been using these for a few(?) weeks now and have noticed that my teeth are whiter and gums look/feel healthier as well. They’re getting the job done, but honestly the brushing experience just feels unpleasant. I need two tablets to get a semi-decent lather, but something about the tablets makes me salivate excessively so I feel like I’m just brushing with saliva. Also, the English peppermint flavor is so strong it stings, but in a refreshing way (like minty mouthwash). I like the sustainability features of this product, and it gets my teeth clean, but I don’t think I will purchase again. The dental floss is fantastic though!

Okay, not a single one of these reviews could prepare me for the taste. Shifting from my nice Colgate to this was like. A physical shock. BUT it foams really nicely, I feel clean and the taste DOESNT remain. As soon as you spit it’s gone! Also, when I received my bottle a bunch of the tablets at the bottom of the little jar were broken/crushed from travel, so I’m thinking I have about 10 or so less uses than it says on the bottle. That was to be expected, I just wish it hadn’t! Aside from the taste (which I’m sure I will get used to with more time), it’s a great product.

These tabs taste like a mix of baking soda and salt water. They didn’t make my mouth feel clean either like what I’m used to.. immediately after using it I used “normal” toothpaste. I also wasn’t sure if tabs are supposed to have the texture of only your spit? So I tried to include using water too and all that did was negate ANY trace of spearmint flavor at all. I love the taste but I feel like they don’t foam enough and I need two tablets to make me feel like I’m getting my teeth cleaned. I haven’t tried them with my kids yet but since they don’t foam like toothpaste I’m not sure the kids will like them

I’ve been using a charcoal toothpaste and noticing positive whitening results but wanted to try something plastic-free. I didn’t mind the texture or consistency of brushing after chewing but the taste is more shocking than other other reviews that say “salty”. I don’t know if its the soda or the tartar, (probably a combination of both and maybe even the citric acid) but it’s rather strong and not in a fun/good way. They make my mouth salivate so much that I have to hang over the sink the entire time I brush so I don’t worry about drooling charcoal all over the place. Perhaps if I tried a minty flavor first, I could work up to these but it’s rather pricey for such a gamble. I keep trying these to convince myself I can get used to it but I’m not sure… These might be good to keep in the car with a brush for camping/emergencies since it’s not a liquid/gel that would easily turn and it doesn’t really to water to “activate”. I wish I liked these better. I love the plastic free mission and the idea of chewable tablets seems nice and easy.

This toothpaste tastes like baking soda, mint and salt. It’s tough to use and I would not recommend this product. There is no “paste” in the tablet and calling it toothpaste is false advertising. It’s fuzzy and I might as well just use baking soda for a real savings. I am very disappointed in the false advertising.

Hi, Lisa- We are so sorry that you aren’t loving this product! The act of chewing and dissolving the tablet allows the paste to form so that you can brush. One of the main ingredients in this product is baking soda- every person’s taste buds are a bit different and I apologize the flavor wasn’t as you’d expected- many customers find English Peppermint to be the mintiest flavor! Our care team will be in touch shortly to help.

Truly incredible how these little tablets foam up. I feel like you get a better amount of product in your mouth from one tablet than a squeeze of toothpaste. There’s also a nice tingly feeling that’s makes you feel like it’s working!

The 1st time I used this was interesting- it’s very strange to bite into the tab & have it fizz up (think vinegar meets baking soda type reaction) but I thought it was neat. The orange is tasty & still has a fresh feeling after brushing, just not as strong as a mint flavor would. It leaves my teeth noticeably clean & white. Since the refill bag is a good value I will be ordering again & would recommend giving it a try if you are on the fence about it.

Although it takes a little getting used to, to me it’s well worth it. They do have a strong taste at first but I find that to be a good reminder not to swallow as it’s common reflex after chewing. I feel my mouth is very clean after I don’t think I’ll be going back to regular toothepaste.

I purchased the English peppermint flavor. Strong but I enjoyed that. I appreciate the attempt at a sustainable option but I don’t plan on continuing to use. I didn’t enjoy that they dissolve when you chew them and then you are supposed to brush. Honestly it feels like you are brushing with spit and that these are not effective because I am not sure how chewing it with my back teeth and them dissolving helps??
I am also concerned that the instructions read “chew 1 table at let it dissolve…For external use only.” For external use only? Are the ingredients not healthy?

Hi Ariel! We’re so sorry that these tooth tabs weren’t a great experience for you. They certainly take some getting used to! Keep an eye out for an email from our Customer Support team soon. 😀 Regarding the instructions: Fear not! All of the ingredients in these tabs have been thoroughly vetted by our team. All-natural, non-toxic ingredients are hugely important for us. Just as your average toothpaste should not be swallowed, neither should these. If a little bit isn’t rinsed away, you should be perfectly safe. 😀

Lola –
What is the best flavor for kids? The kiddos are accustomed to flavorful toothpaste, and the reviews about the taste of baking soda is concerning me.

EarthHero –
Hi Lola! Great question. For kiddos that aren’t huge fans of traditional minty flavors, we reccomend Orange as a fun, fruity option! Toothpaste tablets are definitely something that takes a little getting used to (for adults AND children!), but we think it’s very cool your kids are willing to give them a try. 😀

I want to love these but they have such a strong backing soda taste. Other than that they are great. I love the texture and they are easy to brush with. I did buy the mint flavor. It is a very suddle taste.

I tried some other tablet toothpaste before but the mint flavor was lacking that I was used to in traditional toothpaste from a tube. The peppermint is amazing! It leaves my breath minty fresh and I feel like my teeth are actually getting clean. Plus the packaging and products are so sustainable.

I like the tabs and will continue purchasing. I don’t mind the taste. I have English mint. You’re supposed to brush for 2 minutes. Without suds, it’s very difficult to brush for that long. I wonder if I’m even brushing for a minute.

The taste gets some getting used to, it taste like baking soda. But cleans really well! Teeth are whiter then when using tradition tooth paste

1 star for vegan, 1 for zero-waste, 1 for shipping time, 1 for price. 0 for the actual product experience. Tastes like hydrogen peroxide. Going to try the mint flavor next time in hopes it’s better. Hopefully I can get through these. I really like orange stuff so I thought this would be good but it’s not.

UPDATE: I didn’t like the taste at first…. but after awhile I got used to it. Just be aware it is a little jarring at first, but stick it out for at least a week.
Convenient tabs. Low waste and such… but the taste is too strong. I got the orange flavor and maybe others taste better…. but this is strong and bitter.

how do you use a toothpaste tablet?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch

Hi Suzanne! Great question- toothpaste tablets are a foreign concept for many! On the bottom of the product page there’s an easy how-to: chew one tablet and let it dissolve, brush like normal, then spit it out and rinse well. Easy and plastic-free!
