Cruelty Free

All companies that are included on PETA’s cruelty-free list have signed a statement verifying that they don’t use ingredients or create finished products that help conduct or pay for any tests on animals.
Phthalate Free
Phthalates are found in toys, electronics, personal care products, plastic wraps, containers, and more. These petroleum based chemicals help soften plastics, and bind fragrances to perfumes, deodorants, creams, and other personal care products. Phthalates are are not chemically bound, meaning they can easily get released into the air, water, or your body, just by using the products as intended. Phthalates have been found to disrupt the endocrine system, which can cause reproductive damage, hormonal imbalances, infertility, mood changes, metabolism changes, and more.
Sulfate Free
Sulfates are synthetic chemical ingredients commonly used in beauty products and household cleaners, like shampoos and dish soaps. You can usually identify sulfates in an ingredients list by looking out for the most common types: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLC) and Sodium Laureth Sulfates (SLES). These chemicals, often derived from petroleum, are used to help form the “lather” we’re used to seeing in our beauty and cleaning products. When used in the shower or sink, these chemicals can flow through the pipes and into our waterways. Synthetic sulfates have been linked to allergic reactions, eye and skin irritation, and hair loss, and some studies suggest they contain carcinogenic ingredients.
Organic Content
Organic materials and ingredients are grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers, promoting a healthier use of land and decreasing harmful agricultural runoff. By steering clear of toxic chemicals, farm workers experience less exposure to hazardous conditions, promoting social responsibility as well as environmental stewardship. Choosing organic materials eliminates the use of insecticides and other harmful chemicals, promotes efficient resource use, and results in a safer products and a cleaner planet!

Texture really coats the teeth which I like but basically tastes like dirt and doesn’t have enough mint to counteract the taste. Husband didn’t like at all.

My jar didnt have a scoop or its buried in there but I dipped my brush in and worked fine. The spearmint has a clay taste w mint. It was unpleasant but the after taste is minty and better. The consistency is more watery than I expected but no problem. I hope to get more used to this and not taste the clay so much.

The tablets contain among other ingredients tartaric acid, citric acid, and sodium benzoate; the taste is very acidic and leaves a feeling like biting into a sour lemon when using it; concerned I asked my dentist, who advised against it; over time with frequent use it may soften and damage dental enamel. IT would be advisable if products like tooth cleaning tablets /powder/ paste would have to be tested by dentists before selling them on a market platform like this.

Hi Leapfrog, thank you for sharing your feedback on this toothpaste option! Eco-toothpaste can be a definite adjustment when first transitioning, and we’re sorry this isn’t finding a place in your heart as anticipated. Georganics chooses to use Tartaric Acid to regulate the acidity of the product and increase stability, Citric Acid to adjust the product’s PH and protect tooth enamel, and Sodium Benzoate to balance PH as well. Whenever starting a new oral care routine, we always recommend consulting your dentist first to make sure it’s a good choice for your oral health. Our team will be in touch shortly to assist in finding another option to love!

I wish that I read the reviews before buying because I wanted a more sustainable toothpaste option but I was gagging the first time I used it and I am not looking forward to using it again tonight (but I don’t want to waste it so I am stuck with it for a while). Its a terrible taste and my tongue was burning. It feels like I had pure baking soda or something of that nature in my mouth. I’m so disappointed. I gave it two stars because I do love that it comes in a glass bottle and it’s more sustainable and natural, but I will be trying a different brand of plastic-free toothpaste next time.

Hi Katherine, thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re bummed that these are not working out for you as intended. Baking soda is the first ingredient in this toothpaste, and it’s definitely more prevalent a taste than in a toothpaste many of us are used to! Our care team will be in touch shortly to help find another eco-oral care product that might work better for you.

I love this product so much! I noticed my gum turn pink not redness, I realized I used chemical toothpaste for years that caused redness gum and sometime sensitive gum/tooth! I switched chemical and plastic to eco friendly product and chemical free. Also, it is a long last fresh breath about 15-30 minutes as its depends on what you eat and how much you take care of your oral and it doesn’t run out of jar quickly similar to toothpowder. Last, I recommend you both of toothpowder and natural toothpaste. Because natural toothpaste doesn’t prevent from plaque as toothpowder does.

Taste takes a little getting used to. Biggest problem for me is what to do with the bamboo scoop to get the paste out. Tough to clean off and winds up all over. Otherwise, teeth/mouth feel clean after.

The paste is not sudsy at all, so I feel like I am just brushing my teeth with my own saliva. But also the cost is very high for what little you are getting. I prefer their tablets more than the paste version. This flavor is yuck too, sadly.

While I do love that this company offers low waste toothpaste and tooth powder products, none of these products are fluoridated. Over the past six months, I’ve been using Georganic toothpaste twice daily for 2-3 minutes per brush, and for the first time in my life have gotten a cavity. While I understand that there are a variety of factors that play a part in developing a cavity, I do brush and floss daily and seldom consume sugary foods. When I looked closer into the ingredients I found that there are no active ingredients that aid in preventing cavities, so please don’t get this because it really doesn’t and won’t protect your teeth.

Really great zero waste and natural alternative to regular toothpaste. Love that it comes in a glass jar. Taste is better than other natural toothpastes, but isn’t amazing (leaves your mouth feeling clean though!)

This is a good zero waste alternative and is better than toothpaste tablets, in terms of taste. But that being said, it still doesn’t taste good. It does leave your mouth feeling cleaner than tablets though. I love that it comes in a glass bottle with a metal lid, which I will definitely reuse. I probably wouldn’t purchase this again, unless I decided to add something to it to improve the taste.

It does a really good job of brushing my teeth, it has a weird texture but really sticks to the teeth. However it does taste pretty gross.

Works great and I don’t mind the taste at all. I tried and liked both spearmint and charcoal, with the former being my favorite flavor-wise. I do think charcoal toothpastes are better at whitening for surface stains (e.g., coffee). Only downside is having to be careful to avoid a mess. Since the paste takes on a very liquid consistency after brushing, it can splatter if you’re not careful. I’ve learned that, despite the color of the charcoal one, cleanup is relatively easy when this occurs.

I thought that this product was way more minty and less hassle than David’s toothpaste, which comes in a tube. Neither products lather, but this left me with a cleaner “mouth feel” plus, the jar is easier to reuse/recycle than cutting the David’s tube open and cleaning it out!

I really like this product, mostly because of how it makes my mouth feel and taste when I’m finished. I like that it comes without plastic packaging. It lasts for a while, too, although it is way more expensive than plastic tubes for the quantity. I wish it were more cost effective, but it is the choice we’ve made.

Personally, love this natural toothpaste. My mouth feels SO clean after using it. Yes, if you’re making the jump from Colgate to this, it will taste very bitter. I was using a tubed natural toothpaste before but wanted a plastic free option so I might’ve been a little more prepared for the taste. But once you get used to that part it really does leave your mouth feeling so clean. Didn’t find this to be messy at all.

Sorry, but this toothpaste tastes like band-aids smell and does not leave my mouth feeling particularly clean. I finally finished the jar I had and will try another waste free toothpaste next time. I do like that I can reuse the jar and that the packaging was waste free.

Love that it’s in a plastic free jar and packaging, doesn’t have toxic chemicals, and smells really minty! That’s about all the positives I can say about this toothpaste. The downside is that you can’t taste the mint at all which ends up leaving my breath and mouth not feeling fresh or clean. I wanted to like it, but unfortunately will not re-purchase or recommend at this time 😔

I won’t comment too much on the flavor: it’s not great but it’s tolerable; what isn’t tolerable is the fact that the toothpaste is incredibly messy, and the runny consistency causes small flecks of toothpaste to spray everywhere when you’re brushing your teeth (even when trying your best to brush with your mouth closed). Then there’s the price: for almost $10, you receive a tiny jar containing approximately 2 ounces of product (in contrast to David’s toothpaste, which gives you more than twice that amount at the same price point) that you have to scoop out with a tiny bamboo spatula, so take care not to drop the spatula on the floor when you first open the box. The only positive aspect is that once the jar is finished, you can clean it out and reuse it to hold homemade toothpaste, which is much cheaper to make and which I find performs better (something to keep in mind, given that this product is NOT returnable).

I’m slowly working my way to be waste free, will be a lot easier when I don’t have a roommate who uses paper plates and napkins for everything. I bought this toothpaste because of the great reviews so I was very optimistic about it. However, the taste is horrendous and never leaves my breath all that fresh smelling. I actually gag whenever the toothpaste touches my tongue.
Although it does its job of cleaning my teeth, I wouldn’t 100% recommend this item. Will definitely try something else next time around

Ok, I don’t want to scare you off but I do want you to be prepared: this legit tastes like dirt. There is nothing in there to make it sweet/yummy like most toothpaste options, so it really tastes like dirt. BUT, this is the best product I have used of several toothpaste alternatives. My mouth has never been left feeling cleaner, and I could swear it’s helping with my tooth sensitivity as well, which was exactly what I was hoping for when I tried it. So, know it won’t be delicious but it will be effective!

I do not like the taste of the English Peppermint flavor. It is bland and almost bitter. With that being said, I still love it. It works, it gets my mouth clean and does not leave a residue like a traditional drug store toothpaste would. When I run out, I’m open to trying the other flavors and powders from this brand.

Question
Savannah Cuthbertson –
I am not really sure how this works, but is it dentist approved? Does it work as well as toothpaste?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
EarthHero –
Hi, Savannah! This toothpaste is really neat- you just scoop it out on your toothbrush and brush like normal- but without the plastic tube! 🙂 This toothpaste has not been approved by the ADA yet. Historically, there is not much money set aside for research of natural ingredient testing compared to traditional toothpaste, so as natural companies gain more traction, we hope that the ADA begins to allocate resources more directly and recognize the credibility of natural ingredients and certifies them! However, many of these ingredients are non-synthetic alternatives to typical toothpaste ingredients with non-ADA proven positive results 🙂
