Seed Phytonutrientsâ philosophy is simple: do everything with the purpose of furthering their 4 brand obsessions; promoting natural beauty, leading environmental sustainability, supporting local American independent organic farmers, and preserving seed diversity.
Seed Phytonutrients believes that beauty can, and should be, sustainable. That’s why they commit to offsetting and reducing their carbon footprint annually, using recyclable packaging for all of their products, and partnering with Pact Collective to recycle the packaging components that you can’t recycle at home. Seed feels that itâs their responsibility to continuously improve the sustainability and recyclability of the packaging for all of their products.
In October 2021, Seed moved away from their revolutionary shower-friendly paper bottles with plastic liners in favor of a more sustainable material- aluminum! About 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in circulation today, because it has a high consumer recycling rate and it can be endlessly reprocessed and reformed without any major loss of metal quality. The recycling process for aluminum requires only about 5% of the energy required for its primary production. Also, because itâs so lightweight versus many other packaging materials, it requires minimal energy for transportation.
Last, but certainly not least, comes the seeds themselves! The seed is the most concentrated part of the plant, and an ideal choice for top quality ingredients. Itâs where a plantâs nutrients are encased and protected from environmental elements, so they remain in their purest form. Seeds contain high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, phytosterols, carotene, and vitamins A, C, D and E. Seed Phytonutrients uses the cold press and expeller methods to extract oil from their seeds (as opposed to using chemical solvents.) These methods use mechanical pressure to release the oil. This takes more time and extracts less oil, but Seed feels itâs worth it to maintain the integrity of oils and to ensure the highest level of purity.
