True to our pets, true to our planet, true to our people

Who They Are

Honest Pet Products’ mission is to create truly natural and earth-friendly cat and dog toys, an endeavor that is not taken by many! It all started in 2010 when the founder, Mary Wolff, noticed that though her two tiny Yorkshire Terriers, Willie and Sophie, were spoiled with tons of dog toys, most seemed to never even leave the toy bin. Many were brightly colored and made out of plastic and polyester. She had a gnawing feeling that both her pups and the planet deserved better, but she wasn’t sure where to look!

One day, one of her pups discovered a drink coaster and had a fantastic time tossing it around - bringing her more entertainment than any generic dog toy ever had! From there, the original eco-fetch product was born - made from sustainable, and non-toxic materials. Mary knew that if she was going to go down the pet toy route, she would have to ensure that every step of the way was done right - with the safety of pet, planet, and people in mind. Each product is not only extremely durable and highly engaging but also made with the most planet-forward materials like hemp and ethically-sourced lambswool. With each new toy addition, Honest Pet Products has stayed, well, honest, and only put forth the highest quality options for our beloved furry friends!

Why We Like Them

Honest Pet Products creates safe, natural, and sustainable alternatives to traditional dog toys. Each product is made from regenerative hemp and ethically-sourced wool, ultimately reducing the impact that the pet industry has on our planet. Hemp fabric also boasts extreme durability, is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial, and is 100% biodegradable at the end of life.

Not only are Honest Pet Products toys made with all-natural materials that keep our pet pals safe and healthy, they also work to uplift people both locally and abroad. All hemp toys are assembled in Wisconsin while all wool cat toys are hand-felted by women in both Nepal and Mongolia. We love knowing that pet playtime is safe, fun, and truly sustainable for all!

Organic wool presents less harm than conventional wool production, as both the feed and forage for the sheep must be organic, and no pesticides or insecticides can be used to treat the sheep. Organic wool can be harvested yearly without harming the sheep, and does not involve toxic “sheep dips” where farmers drench the sheep in harmful chemicals. Organically raised sheep are housed in ways that prevent overgrazing, and are not dependent on antibiotics or other drugs, as they live in healthy conditions. Wool is highly absorbent, so it requires little water to dye the finished fabrics. Wool is odor resistant, so you can get away with skipping washes (and saving water!), plus when wool is untreated it’s biodegradable.

We support small businesses and craftspeople who create each of their products with care. Handmade products are generally produced on a small scale, without the use of large energy consuming factories and production facilities. Buying handmade helps support art, communities, and people’s livelihoods.

This product was made in the United States. Buying locally made items helps to reduce harmful emissions that result from transportation during and after the production process. Purchasing products made in the United States also ensures that the items are produced in ways that meet strict safety and labor standards.

This high-yield crop grows quickly and usually doesn’t rely on harsh pesticides and fertilizers, making it a dependable renewable resource. The cannabis plant produces more fiber per acre than common textile crops like cotton and flax, and actually adds nutrients to the soil instead of depleting them! Hemp is strong, breathable, and moisture wicking, and it requires minimal dye during fabric production due to its high absorbency qualities.
